Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 05, 2009 8:49 am Hi!
I am at the very early stages of doing a knock down rebuild in Hornsby, NSW. I have read lots of your topics here to try and help us make some decisions. We have looked at quite a few places but there are so many it makes it very hard to decide. Not sure that you can ever see everything! At the moment the main contenders would have to be Eden Brae, Allworth, Cosmopolitan and Rawson Homes. Read bad and good things about all of them! Lots of bad things about EB frightened me! We are going to need a company that are slightly flexible as we have a bit of a sloping block....we liked that EB were prepared to put steps in the house to make the back part slightly sunken/split level to fit with the block. So after my ramble..... Who would you recommend to us? Or who would you tell us to stay away from? Many thanks, Linda Re: Who should we build with...and who we shouldn't build with? 2Feb 05, 2009 8:37 pm Welcome to this forum! (Although I'm now to the forum too)
I would not build with Cl*r**don because it's famous for its slow speed. My friend built with them and waited for a very very long time. I'm looking for builder too. I have only got 2 builders on my list so far. Will keep looking. Good luck! Re: Who should we build with...and who we shouldn't build with? 3Feb 05, 2009 9:15 pm I would advise against using Py Hms unless you have a building lawyer helping you through the tender doc and contract doc phase. They have cost us about $8000 extra (charged 2 or 3 times for the same thing) and almost left us homeless. We found them to be very anti customer and made it clear that they dont like their work to be checked. Re: Who should we build with...and who we shouldn't build with? 4Feb 05, 2009 9:37 pm im with bright homes constructions. i hope they are good and honest!

Re: Who should we build with...and who we shouldn't build with? 8Feb 06, 2009 10:56 am As I believe you are in Sydney my recommendation would be Masterton - admitedly we are only getting ready for council now but so far all the service has been exceptional. I haven't been able to find any negative info on them so I figure that has to count for something!!
Of all the builders that I looked at which built in my area (EB for instance don't) they had the best value inclusions and from what I can see at the displays a great quality build. Their plans are functional and quite modern. (Oh, and yes, I built with them...) As with every buyilder, there are some good stories...and some horror stories. Mine was in between!!! You're always going to get good and bad with all building companies, I've never heard all good, or all bad about any one builder. You just need to decide on the house that suits you best, and do your homework! Good luck! Yes Petal I have been reading ur threads too..... i shudnt have said "always"... but yes most of the times I have seen ppl (both on the forum and my friends) saying good about them i imagine you also have another contract with an architect? and yeah, whatever other's said about special conditions and appendices 16 16062 hey there! π so, itβs kinda common for standard drawer depths to be around 500mm since most cabinets use this size to fit the usual runners… 3 20954 I've decided, after a period of confusion (my building broker told me it's probably not worth it to use a lawyer, but others have said it is a must) that I definitely will… 7 27961 |
