This sounds very ******* to me. We are getting our entire 37sq house done in Moroka for around $4600.
I would just not worry about the bricks. Like others have said only you will notice and it seriously isn't that bad if bad at all.

We just have a feeling that he seems to be hiding something. We turned down his offer anyway. This sounds very ******* to me. We are getting our entire 37sq house done in Moroka for around $4600. Re: Many problems with Clarendon 22Mar 31, 2009 6:06 pm Jacq_n_Paul Hi behw Can you confirm if a Moroka finish is like cement render? or is it more like the bagged look? The reason I ask is that, we are experiencing similar issues to you and I am thinking they may offer us the same solutions. I want to ensure I completely understand what it will look like. Thanks This is a moroka finish : http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll235/radinovic_bucket/Como/DSC04364-1.jpg You can see the brick outlines. Better still check out my blog for much clearer shots of the facade. I'm not sure if I'd want this to my whole house. I like how you both have it broken up with a combination of different materials (i.e bricks and plaster board), but not sure about a whole house. Behw, looking at your photo I think I'd leave your place as brick. It is looking lovely - but I understand completely how you are feeling about the quality of the brick work, its very disappointing when it doesn't reach your expectations. Re: Many problems with Clarendon 24Apr 03, 2009 3:45 pm Hi Behw, did you end up keeping you bricks or did you change your mind and go with the moroka finish?? We di not like to moroka the whoel hosue as we pay extra already to use better bricks. We are getting an independent inspector to go throught the house on Monday. Are you having some external parts painted? It makes the hosue looks a bit modern. If the hosue is big and it is all face brick, it does get a bit boring. By the way, which hosue model have you chosen? I have seen in another topic that the owner is getting an independent inspector to inspect after every critical stage and report the defects and request the SS to fix the problems. I have missed out on this so can only do this at the final stage. You may want to consider. behw Re: Many problems with Clarendon 26Apr 03, 2009 4:17 pm You could almost get the whole house rendered for 17k! C&G -------------------------------- A new building chapter begins.. Re: Many problems with Clarendon 28Apr 03, 2009 4:25 pm Your chosen paint colour is mixed in with the "bagging" solution. So the application is a 1 step process, after the surface has been primed. We have chosen the pavillion facade. same as my avatar !! but straightened the pillars at the front so it doesnt look weird We have picked the Aston- with a mods to make it a 28sq house. Single story and perfect for us. After a few tips I think i will get inspection pre-plaster and pre handover. $400 now could save me a lifetime of troubles. I can understand not wanting to get the whole house in moroka finish- i wouldnt either !! Let us know how you go with the independent inspector.- I hope they find nothing wrong Living in Caloundra Thread****** Lovin my house all finished!!! Did the brickwork come up in their report? Do you think it was worth getting an inspection? We got one and strongly recommend it!! Jacq Re: Many problems with Clarendon 31Apr 08, 2009 3:41 pm Jacqui, I was going to write to you. Are you building with Clarendon as well? The reprot has identifed over 160 items and I think they are all minor but the inspector's opinion is that these are the items that the Court or CTTT (I think the Construction Tribunal) will require the contractor to rectify or complete. I will send the report off to Clarendon tomorrow. Not sure how long they iwll take to get all this done. The report mentioned about the brickwork and recommended that the mortar joints to be sponge finish. They have said that the repair should be undertaken by a light raking out of the joints using a wire brush prior to sponge finish and use of a bonding agent in the mortar mix. I think the inspection is worth its money as the inspector has picked up a lot of things that we are not aware of or even know how to describe the problem. Now we have a peace of mind. Have you done your inspection yet? behw Re: Many problems with Clarendon 32Apr 08, 2009 4:07 pm We had our inspection about 2-3 weeks ago and there were about 20 items listed. They have fixed most of them and are ready to hand over our keys. But we are not sure we are happy yet. Our independent inspector found our brick work to be unslightly & believes it has been as a result of an error, wether it be made by the brick layer, frame work or where they have placed the doors and windows. But he claims it is not right. Clarendon believes it is correct and that it has to do with the fact that our windows and door frames are different sizes. Both seem to make sense to us so we don't know which way to lean. We have decided to get another builder look at it and get a third opinion!! So we are awaiting his results. Its disappointing because we are so close and this should be an exciting time, moving into our dream home, but instead its stressful and frustrating. I actually saw your house on the weekend. I drive passed it on the way to mine. We are only a couple of streets away from each other. Re: Many problems with Clarendon 33Apr 08, 2009 5:09 pm Jacq, People working on the Metricon display home called our house a light hosue. So you won't miss it. Initially we picked walnut as the roof colour but was told that we have to pick something from a light range. As we do not like terracotta, we pick this stone colour but worried that the colour is too light. However, don't know why another CRESTMEAD house on the same street was built with dark colour brick and dark colour roof tiles. So "C" must have made a mistake on the BASIX/Nathers calculation. We have got this building consultant who is not a normal inspector but he is familar with mediator and dispte resolution. And because of his qualification and experiecne, his opinion hopefully may be more forceful on the builder. Yes,we were also excited like you last month thinking that we can move in. But now I am going to be patient and wait for them to get things fixed. Let mw know how things go with your house. behw the stair balustrades?
