am a newbie here so here it goes. are there insulations available that can cause health dangers such as fibres that we may take in and caused problems later on. like doing insulation jobs probably requires one to wear the safety gear, however i am hoping that insulation for external and internal walls are not that dangerous. Such as Rockwool or Bradford ones.?? Re: Home Insulation 3Jan 11, 2009 9:38 am I am an allergy and asthma sufferer so I prefer to stay clear of the blow in cellulose fibre stuff. I have it in my current house and bits of it come through the light fittings and heating ducts when it's windy. I am constantly coughing and wheezing and I reckon this is party to blame.

Re: Home Insulation 4Jan 11, 2009 10:37 am Ditto on the asthma thing. With every member of my family an asthma sufferer, we insisted on batts, not that spray-in stuff.
We had fibreglass ceiling batts in our old house for 20 years and never had a problem with them. If my husband had to get up in the roof for any reason, he always wore a simple dust mask, just in case... I am saying that double brick has similar thermal performance due to thermal mass effect.
