I am sure we will.... how long does it normally take to get a slab from this stage??? -Sha Re: Country Living .. here we come!! 4Jan 09, 2009 3:05 am Looks great sha! After 2 false starts, a year living overseas, two more world trips and 3 years of uncertainty we are now starting the build process again - hopefully for real this time! I am sure we will.... how long does it normally take to get a slab from this stage??? -Sha It could be days or weeks - depends where your builder is up to with services & council... Re: Country Living .. here we come!! 6Jan 09, 2009 7:45 am Looking good Sha....hopefully it wont be too long now. Re: Country Living .. here we come!! 7Jan 09, 2009 8:47 am Thanks for comments..
I noticed you edited your comment Eco... aww and here I was thinking it was me getting the compliment! (not the pic) hahahaha Builder has just called us and asked for our electrician and us to meet him on site on Tuesday.. Electrician needs to supply and install the entry for the cable (?) and he wants us there to tell him exactly where we want the rain tanks, hstp etc.. he goes off the plan, but is willing to deviate a little if we want.. Unfortunately we both have to work, so we are thinking of going out with some bright spray paint to mark it.. Its looking like rain today, so that might not happen.. Anyway.. we are hoping to have our slab by next weekend... After what seems like forever, watching everyone post their pics of the progress of their beautiful new homes, we are finally joining the club.. and couldnt be more excited! -Sha Re: Country Living .. here we come!! 8Jan 09, 2009 9:10 am sha Thanks for comments.. You lucky, lucky girl! All of your boys ( and girl! ) are going to have a ball growing up there. For the sake of those of us from the southern states...where is Coominya? Re: Country Living .. here we come!! 17Jan 13, 2009 12:17 am Hi Grace,
I will try to post a map from Brisbane to Coominya.. Hmm I am still having trouble posting pics.. please follow the link instead.. http://maps.google.com.au/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=brisbane&daddr=coominya&hl=en&geocode=&mra=ls&sll=-25.335448,135.745076&sspn=30.382952,56.25&ie=UTF8&z=10. Coominya is about an hour and a half from Brisbane, but I work in Ipswich, which is only about 45 mins drive.. most people wouldn't drive that far in a fit.. but I dont mind the drive (nor does hubby).. and to go home to such a peaceful, relaxed place will be amazing! I have always been a country girl at heart - I wanted a cow when i was a kid, and all my friends wanted a horse.. true story! lol) Last weekend, we stopped off at a little cafe about 10 mins from our block, and when we walked in they had a guitar and drum kit set up.. apparantly they play music on Sunday arvo's and all the people visiting the markets come in to listen.. They are looking for a talented lead guitarist, so I dobbed in my DH, as he is a fantastic guitarist They only play the last Sunday of every month, so he hasnt played with them yet.. but it is wonderful to know he can go there and have a jam session with the locals.. not often you can do that in a city.. Here is a link that has a little info on the town.. http://www.townsinaustralia.com/Coominya.88.htm http://www.cometravelaustralia.com.au/coominya.php -Sha Re: Country Living .. here we come!! 18Jan 13, 2009 12:42 am We had to choose different bricks today, because Austral are having trouble making our original choice.. We only had tonight to choose! Our bricks are due onsite in 3 weeks, so they have to be ordered tomorrow. I had enough trouble choosing the first time, let alone again!
The pics are not really accurate colour as they were only taken with my phone, but if you look closely, you can see a redder spot in the middle - this is the more accurate colour.. We will have colourbond "bushland" for roof, fascia and gutter (the greeny/grey sample), and "paperbark" for garage door, window frames, downpipes and gable infils. What do you think??? I think I like them a heap more than our original choice lol.. funny how things work out sometimes! -Sha (edit - the bricks are really quite red in real life, and our mortar will be natural grey, raked.. not off white as in the pic) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ [img=http://img60.imageshack.us/img60/8219/12012009003pn5.th.jpg] [img=http://img502.imageshack.us/img502/3457/12012009004ck6.th.jpg] Re: Country Living .. here we come!! 19Jan 13, 2009 7:51 am How scary having to change bricks.
I don't know what your other bricks were like but these ones are lovely. It sounds like they will combine with your other colour choices really well. What a win! I would be wary.
