Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 07, 2009 10:45 pm Hi, we have been watching the progress of all the houses on the forum and thought it was about time we shared our building story.
We are building in a hills suburb in Perth on an acre block. It is a real tree change for us as we are moving away from living near the beach. Already we love the peacefulness of our block. The house we are building is a heavily modified version of a display home from Ultim@te homes. Hopefully the changes we have made will make it the perfect home for us. We have moved our bedroom and all the living areas to the back to take advantage of the view. A large outdoor living area was also a must. Our 2 boy's bedrooms are at the front of the house with their activity room. The site works started in late August and as of today the plasterers have finished. I suppose we will be locked out soon. So far we have had 3 private building inspections. Only minor issues were found and these are being addressed. So at the moment we are quite happy with the progress of our house. I have added some photos to show the progress( which I know everyone loves) and will keep updating our progress. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Our WA Treechange - Floorboards going in! 4Jan 07, 2009 11:21 pm Thanks for your comments Kristy and Michelle. Michelle ,we are hoping to have the keys in March ( nice if it was sooner ) and then we will have the aircon installed and the floors. We are having marri throughout, no carpet, so I suppose this will take a couple of weeks. We are thinking we will move in in April.
Sonya Re: Our WA Treechange - Floorboards going in! 6Jan 08, 2009 7:12 am Wow - Thats a lovely looking home
Love all the trees around ur home - Looking forward to see more photos of your home Re: Our WA Treechange - Floorboards going in! 7Jan 08, 2009 7:16 pm Hi Melza09,
The colour of the roof is woodland grey, in some light it has a bit of a green colouring, colourbond has put out some new colours and there is one similar that has less green and is more grey. Re: Our WA Treechange - Floorboards going in! 8Jan 08, 2009 8:41 pm Thanks, i thought it looked like Woodland grey but wasn't sure. The new grey colourbond is Monument isn't it? We're still deciding between the two but leaning towards woodland grey.
It looks fantastic on your house! Re: Our WA Treechange - Floorboards going in! 9Jan 08, 2009 8:55 pm wow that looks like a really nice spot! i love woodland grey, our neighbours have it and looks lovely. Great pics! Welcome to the forum! Its addictive Kylie handover happened 15/6/09...love living on an acre but still so much to do! Our Treechange - Locked Out 10Jan 22, 2009 9:21 pm We went out to the house early last week to find that it was locked up, except for one window which we found open! ( so we climbed in for a look). All of the window sills are in as are most of the internal doors, the few that are missing are on back order. The shelving in the linen cupboard and storage cupboard in kids activity area is done also.
We went out again on Tuesday and were surprised to see that all of the cabinets have been delivered. The kids bathroom cabinet and some of the kitchen have been installed. They look really good ( we think anyway ). We went back yesterday expecting that all the cabinets would be installed ,but noticed that alot of the kitchen cupboards that werent installed have now gone missing Not sure what is going on there. We are going to go again tomorow and see what has happened. I have attached some photos of the progress so far. master bedroom [img] [/img] Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ laundry [img] [/img] Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ kids activity [img] [/img] Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ entry [img] family meals kitchen [/img] Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ [img] kitchen [/img] Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ kitchen cupboards [img] [/img] Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ [img] ensuite cabinet [/img] Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ kids bathroom [img][/img] Re: Our WA Treechange - Floorboards going in! 11Jan 23, 2009 8:02 am the raised ceiling looks really nice! you have great taste have they given you a time that you might be in - it seems to be moving really quickly!!! Re: Our WA Treechange - Floorboards going in! 12Jan 23, 2009 10:36 am Thanks Kylie, it's good to see all the choices we made coming together. We have been told it will be about 12 weeks from lockup to handover, we are hoping it will be sooner! It will probobly be about a month after we get the keys that we move in, as we want to get the air con and floors in first.
Sonya Re: Our WA Treechange - Floorboards going in! 13Jan 23, 2009 3:21 pm I cant believe I missed this thread We are almost neighbours, well in the same shire anyways.... we are in Byford.
Your house looks great. I love the doors that lead out to the alfresco from the kitchen area. What colour is your ensuite cabinet? Looks nice. Love your block size and location too, something that I wish we could afford, but maybe in the future we will. Re: Our WA Treechange - Floorboards going in! 14Jan 24, 2009 12:31 am monkeyupatree,
yes we are just around the corner! Our cupboards are wenge. I was worrried about how they would look in a large area, after choosing from the small sample, but I really like them. We went out to the house this afternoon and half the kitchen was still missing and it doesn't look like the cabinetmakers have been back, so I am thinking our kitchen will be taking a while! sonya Our Treechange - Kitchen pics! 15Feb 23, 2009 11:18 pm After a long wait our kitchen is finished! Loving the kitchen! We are still waiting on the tiles to come though. They have been out of stock, we had the choice of choosing other tiles or to wait, couldn't bear to choose tiles again and we loved the origional tiles so decided to wait. Hopefully they will be delivered this week and the tiler can start.

Re: Our WA Treechange - Floorboards going in! 17Feb 24, 2009 11:38 pm Thanks Kexkez, we were hoping the house would be finished late March but are not so sure now. Ive been following your house progress, its looking great, and going up so fast!
Sonya Re: Our WA Treechange - Floorboards going in! 18Feb 25, 2009 10:59 am It looks wonderful. Cant wait to see your tiles go up. Are you having tiles to the cooktop area or glass?
We were told yesterday to look at a handover date, between the start -- mid April. We were at lock-up at the start of January. I am hoping it will be sooner! Re: Our WA Treechange - Floorboards going in! 19Feb 25, 2009 11:13 am We are having mosaic tiles to the cooktop area. I would have thought your house would be finished before that? Hopefully they give a date that gives them plenty of time if needed? I was hoping to get our keys begining of April.
Sonya Re: Our Treechange - Kitchen Pics 20Mar 22, 2009 11:31 pm Well after a long wait for our tiles to arrive the tiling is finally finished I love the tiles! The electricians were meant to start last week but when I went to the house on Friday they weren't there, but the plumber was! We now have all of our taps plumbed in( wrong taps in laundry and kitchen, but they will be changed ) and the solahart installed. The toilets are not there yet, but I'm hoping the plumber will be back this week. The painters seem to come and go, doing a bit at a time. We still don't know when the house will be finished, but it can't be too far off ? I hope!
