Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 07, 2009 2:58 pm Have been luking for a while and have got to contract stage. The builder wants a sign off on the electrical plan prior to any discussion. Is this unusual? Also, the contact special conditions include: "If required, the installation of sub surface drainage to the perimeter of the dwelling in accordance with AS2870.1 is the responsibility of the owner or additional to the contract sum."
Does anyone know what this means? We are running low on resources (who isn't) and I am concerned we are setting ourselves up for even more expense. JNR - Once bitten, twice shy. Re: Help! 2Jan 07, 2009 3:48 pm Just wanted to give you my two bobs worth as we have also just signed and had my electrical appointment. It took neally 3 hours to have this finalised with very standard items I believe. I would never have placed our trust in the builders hands for this.
With regards to the surface drains, we were advised that neally 90% of homes built through M'Con require these. The price we are paying is around $1700 for 2 surface drains. We are on a completely flat block therefore we do believe this is needed. I hope this helps. Cheers Megzy! Re: Help! 4Jan 09, 2009 8:58 pm gees.. I think most of the builders have increased their price right after 1st Jan anyway, more or less. If they threaten you to sign the contract this way, ya, i'd walk away too! That's not very nice! Hi there, long-time lurker but first time posting. I've bought a house 2 and a bit years ago and last year we had some major water damage on a converted pergola area… 0 7936 Yes, unless you are in a low intensity rainfall area or the area is protected from rain. Do you have access to NCC Part 2 or can you download it? I can email you a copy… 10 12533 Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 7171 |
