Not sure when painting will start, i would think in the next week surely. I think they just need to finish off grouting & tiling the bathroom (the bath and one wall to be done as of Sat - could have been done yesterday, but i can't see from the outside). I actually think your tiles are lighter than mine. I really love the niche in the shower, really clever. Hopefully painting will be very soon for you. I am hoping to go and see what is happening at our house later, we do have sunshine today which is a good thing Thanks for sharing your pics. Re: Crissy's perfect home - 10/6 Tiling nearly finished, photos! 564Jun 10, 2009 12:11 pm Thanks for the comments guys - I was really unsure about the shower niche.... (well the tiles that is!). So I'm glad you like it !! MM- i think the house looks bigger & brighter too! The tiles do look light actually, but I think they need a clean too which will take off some of the dust ! I hope painting is soon too !! Hoping its not too dark.....guess we'll have to wait and see ! Look forward to checking your update with lots of work today for you MM !! Our tiles went up quite quickly, so I'm sure yours will be done quick too! Re: Crissy's perfect home - 10/6 Tiling nearly finished, photos! 565Jun 10, 2009 12:14 pm How many tilers did you have? There is only one car and I have only seen one guy walking around but hoping more are inside. Re: Crissy's perfect home - 10/6 Tiling nearly finished, photos! 566Jun 10, 2009 12:35 pm I think the most we had there in one go was 5, which was the first day. That was the Tues I think. Theres been a couple of days with only 1 worker though - we are now at day 6 (business days) to give you an idea. Don't get to drive past though when they are working during the day, so not sure how many are there. Re: Crissy's perfect home - 10/6 Tiling nearly finished, photos! 567Jun 10, 2009 1:58 pm We were told the tiling will take at least 2 weeks but am expecting more, especially if there is only one guy. DH thinks they are starting on the fiddly parts eg/ showers, bathes and then will possibly get more man/woman power in to do all the floors. Time will tell Re: Crissy's perfect home - 10/6 Tiling nearly finished, photos! 568Jun 11, 2009 8:04 am Went to the house afterwork yesterday.....the tilers are all packed up and shipped out !! Looks like everything (well from what I can see...) is now grouted, including outdoor area as well. Can't see in to the main bathroom as we've got that privacy glass - so can't see if the bath has been tiled. I'm sure though if they are packed up that it must be finished, I just can't see with my eyes!!! So...now we just wait for the painter !! No-one was there this morning at 6.30, so maybe theres nothing happening there today. Will wait and see if we hear from SS about a meeting time with painter. Unless he just goes and starts.... I guess we will find out this arvo! Not expecting anyone there today though. overall, I am very happy with our floor tile....I think I like it better than the glossy (I didn't want glossy anyway - but chose it to match the ensuite) - I'm glad its a light colour too, to make it brighter as we have lost a bit of light because the granny flat blocks off a bit esp in the arvo. I WANT PICS!!!!!!!!!!!! It is so exciting that we are all getting really close to finishing off! Then the REAL fun begins..... Enjoy !!! Thanks Megzy! I know - we are all getting close now, very exciting !!!! I think we must have about 8wks left till we move in if that sounds about right. (SS said 1st or 2nd week in August). When the painter comes, he should take about 2wks according to SS, then after that I think is when the fit offs happen. When do we get the fixing invoice ? (shouldn't that be after appliances etc are all fitted ?) I guess they won't be far away either.... I would guess after the painting.... ooo...and that must mean our garage door must be coming soon too !!! Re: Crissy's perfect home - 10/6 Tiling Finished, next painter ! 572Jun 11, 2009 9:43 am Hi Crissy, Loving the pics, love your colours, can't wait to see it all cleaned. It must be getting very exciting About the fixing invoice i got mine the other day once they have finished the plaster, skirting and architraves. (they put my oven and stove in before fixing invoice). They haven't started my tiles yet but they have started my painting. So i reckon you'll get yours pretty soon, i think builders differ slightly. We don't have our stove or appliances etc yet, and not yet been painted, but the plaster & skirting was all done a while ago (feels like ages!!! ). Re: Crissy's perfect home - 10/6 Tiling Finished, next painter ! 574Jun 11, 2009 11:44 am Hi Crissy, thats great that the tilers are done, now you just have to get inside and have a good look at their work I must say when I saw our tiling last night for the first time it was very exciting, almost as exciting as when I saw the kitchen and vanities. We have not received our fixing invoice yet and I think before we do the wardrobes have to be fitted out, and the sink and trough put in. Won't be far away. Hopefully your painters will start this week or do you think they will start from Monday. I suppose it just depends when they are available. Re: Crissy's perfect home - 10/6 Tiling Finished, next painter ! 575Jun 12, 2009 7:49 am I did get a peek last saturday at some of the tiling, but not all complete and grouted !! Will be able to get in when I meet the painter. I agree, the tiling is very exciting - esp when you see it up against the kitchen benches - i am so thrilled with ours. Well, no-one was there yesterday like i thought. Again DH went past this morning and no-one was there at 6.30am - I think they're prob going to start next week then, like I thought. The painter might be finishing off somewhere before coming to us. Surely I'll have to hear from SS soon as to next meeting with the painter. Re: Crissy's perfect home - 10/6 Tiling Finished, next painter ! 576Jun 12, 2009 8:05 am Looks like it might be a busy week next week for you. Hopefully the painters will start then. It is a bit disheartening to see no action at the house at this point of the build don't you think? DH said our tiles are looking really good against the kickboard which I am so glad we chose a dark colour now as it breaks up the tiles and the cupboards. Off to work soon which will help my day go faster Re: Crissy's perfect home - 10/6 Tiling Finished, next painter ! 577Jun 12, 2009 8:40 am Yep, i agree. Being so close to the mark I just want it finished already ! But I am not complaining, they have done such a great job on our place and someone has been there pretty much every day - so i can't complain. Painter might surprise us & rock up today - but we haven't met with him yet though....doesn't mean that he won't start on the simple jobs first though.....we'll see ! I finish at 2pm today so get to go past earlier! I am so glad we chose a dark kitchen & light tiles. I'm soooooo loving it !!!! Re: Crissy's perfect home - 10/6 Tiling Finished, next painter ! 578Jun 15, 2009 8:06 am So...... no painters there again on Friday..... but... we do have our garage door now !!!!! Looks awesome !! Will upload pics tonight ! The mesh has gone down ready for the pathway from granny flat to outdoor room 2 - so hoping thats not too far away. Will see if SS calls today, if not I might give him a call this arvo just to see whats happening and ask if we get to keep spare roof tiles & spare floor tiles. Plus need to ask about when we can do fencing and get the bobcat - he originally said we could get them out now as long as they stay away from the house so to speak, but when DH saw the CM he said to wait till handover. Hmmm..... obviously we want to get in as quick as possible, but need to get the fencing up for my doggy, and need to concrete up the sides etc too and get the bobcat in before the fences go up to make life easier ! Re: Crissy's perfect home - 10/6 Tiling Finished, next painter ! 579Jun 15, 2009 11:41 am The tiling looks fantastic. I bet you're starting to get really excited as the end nears. Can't wait to see the pics of the garage door Re: Crissy's perfect home - 10/6 Tiling Finished, next painter ! 580Jun 15, 2009 2:08 pm Thanks Rebekah!! I'm really happy with the look of it all ! Hope the painting comes up okay! Just spoke with SS.....we get to keep roof & floor tiles as spares so thats good. When i asked about external workers, he said it is better to wait till after handover to get fencing, concreting etc done. He also said that the painter is coming on Thursday (he is finishing off another job) and will take 1 - 2 wks. After that SS is able to give us a date for PC walkthru, and then handover is usually 10 days after that - so we are looking at PC walkthru in about 4wks, then handover 10days after that! Woo hooo !!! Which takes us to end of July. He also said that if we do handover at 7am, then he is happy for the concreter to start boxing up that morning. So once we have handover date, we will then be able to organise fencing and concreting and bobcat-ing. At least we'll have a date to play with, and get them all lined up so we can move in not too long after that. Another plus with that, is then we can start moving things over a trip or 2 a day, and even start unpacking some of the little things like plates etc, and measuring up for curtains too and get them ready for when we move in. How exciting !!!!!!!! Not long now ! Building in Brisbane SW Suburbs Started on site with plumbing on 30/3 - Lock up 2/5 - 15/6 Recd Fixing Invoice - 18/6 Painter to start !
