Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 01, 2009 2:42 pm ok...nothing new.....but I really am seriously overwhelmed!!!
We've had our tender just before Christmas and our colours/electricals is on the 9th Jan. There is just so much to finalise before then! We're really stuck on choosing our bricks......we hope Homestead Tan will be nice on our brookvale with a dark grey roof...maybe Barramundi. Colours in between, sectional rendering in two colours, fascia and downpipes and gutters, window colours and garage doors....we're yet to choose them. We like very neutral colours....warm browns to light sandy colours. Any tips to make this process easier? Our building journey has begun: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=23138 Brookvale 45 by Porter Davis ************** Lead me not into temptation.....I can find the way myself. Re: Need help with House exterior colours! 3Jan 01, 2009 7:37 pm What part of Melbourne are you in? There are a lot of Porter Davis homes around Mernda and South Morang with bricks from the Homestead range, and all with dark grey roofs. Seeing some colour schemes on real houses should help give you an idea of what you like - and what you don't.
Our roof tiles are Barramundi and we chose a brick from the Harvest range - Malt, which is fairly similar to Homestead Tan, just a bit less red and more brown. I doubt you'd like our render or spouting/fascia colours though... neutral they are NOT. If you go up to Austral Bricks at Craigieburn, they'll give you samples of a few bricks, so you can see how you like them with your other colours. Make sure you get samples of a few different colours for windows, spouting/garage door etc as well, and plenty of paint colours, so you can mix and match and see what looks good together. The Brookvale is a beautiful house - I'm sure you'll love it. Re: Need help with House exterior colours! 4Jan 02, 2009 9:05 am A fine choice in brick, as we are having Homestead Tan ourselves I can really relate about choosing colours, it is so overwhelming. As kek says, there are a lot of houses around Mernda with Homestead bricks, and the one we based our home on was actually a display in Mernda too, but in H3nl3y's range. We are building a Cott3sloe, but our colours are based exactly on the S!erra display house there. When we saw that house, we just thought "BINGO! We must have those colours, they work together so well!"
Our colours (and the display's) are as follows: Brick: Homestead Tan with white mortar Roof tile: Phoenix (black) Aluminium window frames: black Garage door: Dune (sort of a sandy colour) Colourbond Spouting: Night Sky (black) Colourbond Fascia: Night Sky (black) Colourbond Downpipes: Jasper (another sort of sandy colour I think) Front Door: Mountain Shadow (brown) Render feature: Mountain Shadow Meter Box: Jasper So check out the H3nley website and look for the S1erra, as that is the display home in Mernda with the colours I mentioned above. Hope this is of some help!
