Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 01, 2009 11:51 am Hi all,
I'm posting this as a new topic because I didn't find a similar thread on the site. I'm looking to find other people who have purchased one of the 24 lots in Laurence Ave, Airport West on a sloping block. I'm hoping to share some experiences with builders, plans, etc. and with any luck we might even be able to get some type of volume discount if we all go with the same builder. We have talked to several builders so far (see below) and have had some plans architected for us. We have still not made a decision on which builder we will go with, but here is the list... Verve Construction - Seemed very keen to do something with us at first, but have become very unresponsive. Pricing so far has been ridiculous. LP Warren - Have been very good to deal with, despite some comments on this forum, and we are not looking to build a mansion. Pricing so far has been on the high side, but with the standard inclusions only looks a little better. Rycon Building Group - after reading this forum, we will be having further discussions with them for sure. Urbayne - After initially indicating that they could definitely build on a slope, we got the contours done and after seeing the 9m slope from front to back of the lot, they decided that they couldn't do it. Other volume builders - not one of the other volume builders were interested in building on a slope. Looking forward to hearing from others that are hopefully building in Laurence Ave. but more than happy to hear of other people's experience too. Thanks. Re: Building in Laurence Ave, Airport West 3Jan 10, 2012 9:35 pm Hi I am looking at purchasing the block for sale on laurence av. I am little worried about building a home that is going to extend beyond my budget when it comes to building on it. Is your block a sloping down block from the street? How did you go building on it? I have looked at some of the builders and wondering if you went with Rycon, their portfolio shows they have built a house on laurence av. Could you give me an indication of costs to build on the sloping block. Your insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Hi All It has been a few weeks since my last update.
