Things nearly done. Re: Smallest gap size usable with ceramic tiles? 25Dec 27, 2008 9:26 pm sammy we just laid 600 x 600mm porcelein tiles. It is matt on the top. We had to do wet cement over the existing slab so that the surface is flat (otherwise the edges are quite sharp). The tiler placed the tile 1.5mm apart. We purchase the tiles, and pay the tiler labour and materials at around $40 per m2. It was a very good price as he is a friend. The tiles were around $27 per m2 for 120m2 area. that is an outstanding price for laying Sammy. He is a great friend. We just had 200m2 of 600 * 600 porcelain put down. Given the size of the job, we got 5 quotes. All were pretty much the same at $60 or $65 per m2. Tiles were listed at $120 per meter but we ultimately paid $70. I've never seen any porcelain priced at $27 (or anywhere near it!). A final note, whether or not your tiles need sealing I'd recommend grout sealing. Especially if it is a light coloured grout.
