It's getting delivered next week, just waiting on pool installer's availability now. I'm more excited about our driveway though......it's starting today Happy at Home Re: Please help me design my first home- Porter Davis Cremone 22Jan 05, 2009 8:56 am House-To-Be Mango-Lover, we have just moved into our new Cremorne over the past week. We didn't increase the WIR space but someone I know did. They just moved the wall back in the upstairs rumpus so basically lengthened the WIR and Ensuite. They didn't put in a spa but got a bigger shower out of it, made it a double with two shower heads. H2B Congratulations, House-To-Be! It's so exciting!!!! I fancy big WIR but my husband tried to perusade me to go for a spa by saying that he won't put any of his clothes in WIR. hehe. But as House-To-Be said, lenghtening both WIR and ensuite will be a good idea for me. Re: Please help me design my first home- Porter Davis Cremone 24Jan 05, 2009 9:24 am Yes it is very exciting Mango-lover, thanks I love the house, not one thing so far that I'm not happy with (apart from a few minor electrical things). The house is very practical and spacious. I'm sure you'll be very happy when you get into yours. The other day I was in the study, DH in the HT, two kids upstairs playing Wii and another in her room unpacking. Didn't hear anyone! Love it
Good luck getting your spa and extra WIR space Happy at Home Re: Please help me design my first home- Porter Davis Cremone 25Jan 05, 2009 9:58 am Mango-Lover, we are not building with PD, but one of the things I wanted most was a spa. After much ummming and aaahing, I decided to do an outdoor spa instead.
The cost is not that much more than an indoor spa upgrade. And I think it will get more use as guests can use it and 6 people can use it at once. Also there is the water issue. The outdoor spa you fill once like a pool, whereas the indoor ones you empty after each use.... and that's a lot of water. Just another option about if you're worried the novelty will wear off. Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Please help me design my first home- Porter Davis Cremone 26Jan 05, 2009 5:01 pm House-To-Be I'm more excited about our driveway though......it's starting today I know, Toni..... Mark the concreter came by today, to show a prospective client OUR driveway (she wanted very dark grey exposed agg, like ours) and he told me he was pouring yours tomorrow. Mango-lover, I think Jo makes a good point about water wastage. Things are only likely to get worse in terms of wtaer restrictions too. Still, it's your house, so only you and your husband can know what's best for you. (I still vote for extra wardrobe space ) Re: Please help me design my first home- Porter Davis Cremone 27Jan 09, 2009 8:53 am Thanks for all the advice!
My hubby and I talked about a outdoor spa. It's awesome to have one! Jo, could I ask how you maintain it? I mean, do you use a blanket or something to make sure the dust/leaves/.. get into the water? I am a lazy virgo...lol I sent an enquiry of spa and WIR to my customer service coordinator and waiting for the reply. If no replies from her, I will bring the issue at the tender appointment. I always find it exciting to hear others' story of how progressive their construction are and it made me look forward to mine. But atm I am still at the stage of struggling through colors, tiles, etc. But having the option to choose is one of the reasons I go for building my house:) Re: Please help me design my first home- Porter Davis Cremone 28Jan 09, 2009 8:57 am Mango-lover, I haven't built my house yet, so I don't actually have my spa. But I am planning on having a removable cover on it.
I actually went to a spa place, and the lady there gave me a printout for the builder of what would be required. Very helpful. Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Please help me design my first home- Porter Davis Cremone 29Jan 09, 2009 8:59 am We went to national tiles for browsing. It's our first time choosing colors, so a lot of ideas and a lot of questions. In the end, my hubby and I thought of all white in the house- floor and wall. lol. We are trying to justify ALL WHITE house:
pros: makes the house light and big; gives us a wider range of choice in terms of the color of furniture cons: might show marks more easily; might make us feel too empty and chilly at home? any thoughts on it? Oh, but in the master room, I have to paint the wall light lavender and in the kitchen, have the light lime/lemon splashboard. Re: Please help me design my first home- Porter Davis Cremone 31Jan 09, 2009 2:37 pm hehe, we don't hv kid atm....
For people building Lifestyle and use the rangehood Blanco BRC90BX, do u mind posting a photo? I want to know what it is like. Is it wall canopy or slimline? I gooled it, but could not find a photo of it. A million thanks! Re: Please help me design my first home- Porter Davis Cremone 32Jan 09, 2009 3:11 pm The Blanco website doesn't seem to have an image of that model. There's a diagram on page 9 of this document though:

It's annoying that Blanco website does not have detailed specification of it. Re: Please help me design my first home- Porter Davis Cremone 35Jan 10, 2009 9:33 am Hi, we were confused over the Blanco appliances so we went down to their showroom. Some of the appliances they provide are specifically for PD and the rangehood for instance is identical in look to another model available to everyone but less powerful! Re: Please help me design my first home- Porter Davis Cremone 36Jan 10, 2009 8:50 pm Wanna Hi, we were confused over the Blanco appliances so we went down to their showroom. Some of the appliances they provide are specifically for PD and the rangehood for instance is identical in look to another model available to everyone but less powerful! Eh......less powerful....................................................................................................... I am so concerned with whether the range hood is powerful enough to let out the smoke, so I wanna check it before instalation. Maybe I buy one myself and ask PD not to intal the Blanco one? Re: Please help me design my first home- Porter Davis Cremone 37Jan 10, 2009 8:52 pm Also, anyone installed solar energy system? What do you think of it? How about its performance? Re: Please help me design my first home- Porter Davis Cremone 38Jan 11, 2009 9:04 am A lot of appliance manufacturers have a "builders' range". There should still be a minimum standard applied: after all, companies like Blanco have a brand to protect....
Our Blanco rangehood supplied by PD is plenty powerful enough, and I haven't even used it on the highest settings. Getting a rangehood installed later could be a pain - far easier to do it during the build. Can't help with solar energy systems, but there's an interesting Choice article here: http://www.choice.com.au/viewArticleAsOnePage.aspx?id=106422 The article also makes this point: GreenPower is a much cheaper and easier way to buy renewable energy that gets fed into the national electricity grid. Choosing the GreenPower option with an electricity supplier will only cost between $4 and $7 extra per week on top of your normal electricity bill. That extra amount is much less than the cost of installing your own solar panels. To have the best effect, choose 100% Accredited GreenPower. Some companies offer a solar power option. For a detailed comparison of products and prices, see the Price comparison: GreenPower Re: Please help me design my first home- Porter Davis Cremone 39Jan 11, 2009 6:40 pm Glad to hear the positive feedback on the rangehood. I once posted a thread asking the most effecient way to install the rangehood. I will bring it to the tender appointment and ask PD's advice.
Just an update. Went to Hopetoun this weekend and feel not as frustrated as our first color selection experience in national tiles:) Re: Please help me design my first home- Porter Davis Cremone 40Jan 13, 2009 4:37 pm Hi, I am wondering if I need a lawyer to read through the contract with PD?
