Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 15, 2008 3:55 pm Hello all,
Me and my gf planning on building our first house since it's such a good time with all the bonuses. We're planning on going with Eden Brae home and land packages and the Saville 16 design, which is a scale down version of the Saville 25, as we like the design and floor plan from the display home. I have read through some sites about them but as always, there's good and bad so it's kind of hard to decide. Have anyone here have any experience with Eden Brae or comment on them? This is my first time so I'm not quite sure if there's anything I should be looking out for. Any hints or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all Re: Planning on building with Eden Brae 2Dec 16, 2008 6:03 am Welcome! There are a few here building with EB - hopefully they can give you some good feedback. After 4 years - we're in! Hope my house will be that fast =) Think i will go back for another chat to Eden Brae this weekend for a more concrete information and hopefully i will be able to something started. Re: Planning on building with Eden Brae 5Dec 16, 2008 1:23 pm Check this thread that I posted a while ago. I am going for tender presentation tommorrow..lets see what happens. There have been a range of experiences from good to bad out there for Eden Brae. Someimes I feel luck also plays a role in building.

Don't believe what EB say about their biuld times, which you'll find on their promotional material. We thought - yippee - 24 weeks for a double storey. No way From the get go, we were told it would be 31 weeks. In addition to the 31 weeks, we have been told to add on 5 weeks xmas shutdown + p/holidays + rained out days. Now add that up - 36 weeks plus ! 9 months ???? WT..??? Makes the 24 week claim ludicrous and misleading to say the least Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Planning on building with Eden Brae 7Dec 17, 2008 6:24 pm 36 weeks is alot of time, but they are being safe. And at least we know that any time beyond that we will receive some form of rent payment...I should think??? Re: Planning on building with Eden Brae 8Dec 17, 2008 7:21 pm I'm hoping that the 36 weeks plus, is purely to cover themselves & that should the weather be reasonable, that they'll finish well ahead of 36 weeks. No idea - it's upto EB. 31 weeks + 5 weeks xmas shutdown + public hols + days lost to rain =??? All I know is that the 31 weeks starts from excavation, which for us was on 21st October. I am religiously keeping a diary of every day EB are on site & every day lost due to rain. Luckily we live nearby & I can drive by every day to check on progress . Re: Planning on building with Eden Brae 14Dec 18, 2008 5:19 pm Too bad about the weather this year.. we've been having some weird weather..
Your house looks like its going fairly fast southies? or is this slow? I'm excited about this saturday, will be visiting them again and may putting in my tender... Re: Planning on building with Eden Brae 16Dec 22, 2008 7:39 am Went to Eden Brae on Saturday and got some bad news...
The home and land packages they propose to us somehow dont fit together now.. The house is slightly bigger than the land and they have no idea how it fit when they put it together. Have to wait for head office to check it out and reply now. We've also paid the $500 initial tender deposit, what would happen if they cannnot fit the house and land together? Are we liable to get the deposit back? Re: Planning on building with Eden Brae 17Dec 22, 2008 8:32 am Because the mistake was theirs and not yours, I would expect to get a refund.
