I am actually thinking to have the pergola covering the entire back side of the house. I am not too sure how deep it should be yet, maybe 0.8m, 1m, or maybe more? Just don't want to lose too much light going into the living room. Also, thinking whether it should be entirely covering up the top (rain-proof), or just timber slate just to create shade. You also got a point about rusting too! More to think about! Yea, the carrier unit. Are you getting the same one? We didn't really research much into aircon, we just took whatever C had to offer... For the CAT5, I have one in Study, Living, and one bed room. They all terminate inside a cabinet upstairs where my router will be. The one in study, obviously, is for my main computer. The one in Living is for my media box for streaming video. I don't have a home theatre room. The living room is where my main TV and entertainment units will be. I guess that is what you call it the hometheatre wiring?? For the one in one of my bedrooms - Just in case I have some centralised computing equipment there in the future I don't think I need to run CAT5 throughout every room. I only need CAT5 where I need reliability and speed, ie video streaming. For other purposes, there will be wireless network Building Clarendon Brighton - Done and moved in Sept 2009 Re: Building Clarendon Brighton - Roof in progress 111Mar 27, 2009 3:45 pm Hi eho, we are at very similar stages. We have the Clarendon frame inspection next week too. We have very similar aircon equipment, and I have put data cables from the main entry point in my "studio" (home theatre) to bed 3 (wife's office) and bed 4 (son's) and also to the family room which will house the TV (in case of future media PC with TV). The writing on the floor near your cat5 cables looks like the same person did it as did ours. We saw our repaired "penetrations" today - the new holes are only a couple of cm smaller than the excessively large ones, but now we have double joists in those locations. Re: Building Clarendon Brighton - Roof in progress 112Apr 06, 2009 9:21 am Looks great with the scaffolding down Eho, hopefully our eaves will be done this week. I had data cables sent anywhere I thought we'd need them , mainly tv positions up and downstairs and to my studio, all terminating in the office. Our downstairs flooring will be a floating wood floor so I can run audio cables from the front lounge room (piano room) and the office (vocal booth) back to the studio. I wonder if my partner will believe me when I tell her the acoustic panelling I'll be installing is "a modern decorative feature", hmmmm I doubt it. I watched something on TV a few weeks ago - I think its called acoustic artwork. You can print your own photos on. You can make it as big as your wall and it looks great! definitely a decorative feature! Our house is still not completely water proof yet and last weeks heavy rain delayed things a bit, so no gyrock yet. Also, the certifier had the inspection and wanted some more brick ties at couple of locations. SS has booked in the roof guy to complete the roof this wednesday. SS said he would get gyrock in by easter if he could. But that doesn't sound likely. Plasterboards were delivered on thursday. Though I saw a bunch of asians (suspected to be the same bunch as HellDad's) at my site in that morning, no work was actually done that day. But today, on a Saturday, they are busy working. By 2pm, I can see plasterboards on ceiling and most of the walls downstairs already!! Not sure how much been done upstairs, I certainly can see some coverage already by peeking through windows. By following HellDad's footsteps, maybe I will be seeing some cabinets delivered next week Building Clarendon Brighton - Done and moved in Sept 2009 Re: Building Clarendon Brighton - Gyprock in Progress 116Apr 11, 2009 4:30 pm eho By following HellDad's footsteps, maybe I will be seeing some cabinets delivered next week Oh yes - and don't forget doors, doorjambs, skirtings, and wet area waterproofing. Yea, can't wait to check out the place again tomorrow. I have seen enough frame and bricks already The brick is Opal Cove from the Nuvo range. Frankly, after what I have been through with my bricks, I would not have chosen this again. This is a very light colour bricks. The colour is "sort of" painted over the brick. Depending on the production process, colour coverage on the brick varies. If not covered well, the uncovered area will show the backing, "the raw brick material" and this is very obvious because of the light colour. If you like the light colour of Opal Cove, check out the range Aspire. The bricks look much better. I was told the backing is lighter in colour. So, uncovered area will not be as obvious. If I knew better back then, I would have paid more attention to this range. Good luck to your bricks selection! There was a small hipcup. Because of the heavy rain last weekend, we found water leaking in the living room, from the front flat roof. Well, calling it leaking is understatement. Water was actually flooding down along the plasterboard wall. After my SS checked it out, apparently, the leak was a result of a leaky roof, it was the idiot/moron (words from my SS) who put the drainage on didn’t drill a hole there. As as result of the heavy rain, water got built up and overflow down into the house. Since then, this has been fixed. The water damaged plasterboards in the living room have also been replaced. We were snooping in our house yesterday when a really heavy downpour arrived. It was nice to see no obvious internal leaks, although there are a few broken tiles, so no telling what's happening out of sight - probably some wet batts. We watched a few hundred litres gush out of the gutters where downpipes are not yet installed! Built the C£arend0n Cambridge: Moved in. Happy campers.
