Unfortunately they weren't able to get us in before Christmas, but we should have the keys by the end of January. Woohoo! From slab down, that's a 7mth build time... 3 weeks of which they were on holiday. So officially it's just over 6mths. So far, very happy! Your house looks lovely. All your colours work really nicely together - great choices. Pity it isn't ready before Christmas, but at least you don't have long to wait now. reply 4Dec 13, 2008 7:12 pm Your house is looking fantastic! Perth home building is so different to Melbourne! You may remember me as "pringles", on such websites as Homeone. Building Atlantique Mk2 with Carlisle. At completion stage. Regards Re: Our build with SPH 5Dec 13, 2008 7:15 pm It's a lovely looking house. I really love the kitchen and the colours. What colour is the benchtop, it works really well with the kitchen cabinets. That's a nice big ensuite too. It all works so well, you must be really happy. Re: Our build with SPH 7Dec 14, 2008 9:57 am haywgl Wow it all looks fantastic! Love your splashback colour!! Yeah! I loved it too.. I'm not sure of the 'brand' but I think they called the colour Apple Seed or something. Building the Grand Harmony Triple with Scott Park Homes Re: Our build with SPH 8Dec 14, 2008 10:00 am Your house looks great! I like the colours of the kitchen!
I am in Perth now for holidays. I cant help but notice that most of the new houses that are built in Perth - all are full bricks! Yes, even the internal bricks! (as shown in starlet's pics) And one of my friends that are building - he told me that it is standard inclusions that even the internal walls are bricks, not boards (like in the eastern states). Can someone please advise me why in the eastern side (Canberra, Melbourne ), we do not use full bricks for internal walls? how much extra would it be to upgrade to full bricks like starlet's house? Your opinion will be much appreciated! Stephen Williams Landing Stage 10 - Kingwell Neighbourhood Re: Our build with SPH 9Dec 14, 2008 10:03 am photogirl It's a lovely looking house. The benchtop was Avonite 'Artica'. We had originally picked a Staron colour but our building company stopped using Staron products, so this was the closest to our original colour selection which was Staron 'Sanded Dover'. The cabinets are Laminex 'Expresso' Building the Grand Harmony Triple with Scott Park Homes Re: reply 10Dec 14, 2008 10:08 am PringlesMk2 Perth home building is so different to Melbourne! I know! We visited my Father in-law in Geelong recently and noticed that although the externals are bricks, the internals are all plasterboard.. or Gyprock as call it in WA (do you guys call it the same over East?). The only time a house would really have plasterboard over here would possibly be for a second storey. But even most of these are double brick throughout. FND - I've often wondered the same thing. It seems similar to the United States the way houses are build over east. Maybe it's a cost thing? What's the standard build price for an average 4x2 home over there? It would be interesting to see if it was much different to WA because double brick just seems sturdier to me. I think it would possibly also have better insulating properties? Building the Grand Harmony Triple with Scott Park Homes Re: Our build with SPH 11Dec 14, 2008 2:00 pm I just did a little research on some of the popular builders I've heard everyone speak about on the forums here that build in the Eastern states and it does seem ALOT cheaper to build over east!
For the price that we paid for our single storey 3x2 plus study, theatre etc, you can build a two storey 4 bed, 2.5 bath home. Looks like a much bigger home for your $. I don't know if the prices listed on the websites over there include as much as or more than what our prices in WA include. Building the Grand Harmony Triple with Scott Park Homes Re: Our build with SPH 12Dec 18, 2008 11:43 pm Paving is now all done! Block has also been cleared of all builders rubbish and temporary site power is gone.
All that's left is final fixings on the doors (handles etc), hot water system and oven/hotplate/dishwasher. Woohoo! Pre handover meeting has not yet been booked but our builder is returning to work on 12 Jan but our supervisor isn't coming back until the 20th... he is expecting us to have done our PHO before he gets back to work with the area manager. So excited! Building the Grand Harmony Triple with Scott Park Homes Re: Our build with SPH 13Dec 19, 2008 12:15 am Here in SA most houses used to be double brick, but now they are mostly brick/veneer even the upmarket builders 1mil +, there are a few builders who build with hebel but to get a builder to buld with double brick is rare these days. Re: Our build with SPH 14Jan 07, 2009 10:29 pm Latest update!
Construction department is back in the office next week... I expect we'll probably had our Pre-Handover meeting either late next week or early the following week. Timber floors are booked in for the 29th of Jan so we'd like the keys so we can paint the first couple of coats on the walls on the Australia Day long weekend before they arrive! Carpets booked for the 9th Feb, so IF all goes to schedule, we should be moving in around the weekend beginning 13th Feb. Woohoo!!!!! This is the latest pic of the front of the house: today the oven and rangehood went in, just need the hotplate and gas hws to be installed by the plumber and the doors to be hung with handles... then it's all finished! Few patchups and bits and pieces to raise at PHO but nothing major. After 2 false starts, a year living overseas, two more world trips and 3 years of uncertainty we are now starting the build process again - hopefully for real this time! Your house looks fantastic. You must be so excited about moving in. You have really put your colours together well. I'm having similar colour scheme in my kitchen and feeling a lot more confident about it no. Thanks for sharing. Re: Our build with SPH 19Jan 09, 2009 10:42 am starlet Latest update! Can we ask what colours you have used on your Roof/Gutters/Facia please, we are having a problem making our mind up on our external colours. Regards, Vid Re: Our build with SPH 20Jan 10, 2009 7:57 pm Thanks everyone for all the compliments! We're really excited. Pre Handover we're hoping will happen this week - we're aiming for Thursday
Colours on the front for those who were asking were: Window Frames: Anodic Natural Matt Colourbond Roof/Gutters/Fascia: Woodland Grey Render (all paints are 'Solver' brand): Oyster Linen (main colour) and Caribou (darker colour). The front door is also Caribou. Garage Door - Its a Centurian garage door and our addenda says the colour is 'Cedar Look-A-Like'... now that's an imaginative name!! The colour selection for the front was easy for us, we got the Addenda of the display home and copied the front colours exactly. The inside we worked through on our own though. Building the Grand Harmony Triple with Scott Park Homes Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense.
