Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 12, 2008 11:27 pm Hi guys,
I have seen people mention the 'sound deadening bats' that are placed in the walls. Just wondering...anyone who has done it...does it make a difference? should I be getting it? And if so, which are the most important areas and how much does it cost? I am thinking of building a single storey, 33 square home with PD. I am thinking about putting these bats around the theatre.....and maybe between the livingand bedrooms? What about around bathrooms/toilets etc? Built in now city 2009, now moving to the country to embark on another build. Check out our previous blog http://ourpalazzo.blogspot.com/ Re: Sounds deading...is it worth it? and how much? 2Dec 13, 2008 7:48 am For a 39 Square double storey, we were quoted $2555 to have R3.0 SoundBatts bewteen the cavity of the 1st and ground floor. As well as sound insulation, you also get the extra thermal insulation.
We are going to ask for variation to have sound batts to be installed in the internal walls of the bedrooms upstairs. I suspect it won't cost that much as the above as there are only about 6 to 7 walls.
