Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 11, 2008 9:52 pm We are up to the waffle pod stage, and I noticed that some of the steel grid thingy over the white polystyrene has rust on it. Is this normal, or something I should be concerned about? I've seen a few pics here that look like it's quite common, but I'm still not convinced. Can anyone re-assure me?

If you are referring to the steel reinforcing then yes, much of it gets left outside and does gather some surface rust. When the slab is poured the reinforcing is encased in concrete and hence no air can get to it, the steel will not continue to rust. Nothing to be worried about however, as its very common what you have noticed.
