Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 10, 2008 9:43 am Can a builder use an old HIA contract from 2001 or do they need to update to the current 2008 one. Was meant to sign contracts today but I am not happy with the $150 per week late payment if not completed on time.
After reading about others who have all been late I want it at the the $250 per week as it should be. They said that it is fine to use older versions of the HIA contract and will comporomise at $200 but I still want $250. Re: Old HIA contracts 2Dec 10, 2008 11:57 am Why compromise?
BTW, $250 a week is already a compromise. The correct figure is whatever your completed house woudl rent for. You can definitely request that the amount be increased - the builder doesn't have to agree to it though, in which case don't sign the contract. If they want your business and they have confidence in their own ability to complete on time, then there should be negotiation room. $250 per week is ridiculous anyway.
