Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 09, 2008 7:25 pm Hi There
Long time reader, first time poster /me bows Anyway, long story in a paragraph. Have picked out the Coral Daydream 232 with a lot of mods to build and are happy with this design. But a guy ive been in touch with has offered to build a very similar floor planned home, to our design requirements, for a lot less cash, through gdevelopments. Well about a 25k saving. Was wondering if anyone had heard of them at all, not much round on the net anywhere and a little concerned about that. Coral seem pretty solid and my bro (yes he's beached), just built with them very smoothly. Weird thing is Ive just moved into a rental that happened to be built by this guy and I cant say there's anything I can complain about with it. http://www.gdevelopments.com.au/ Thanks for any feedback, and hi there! Re: Anyone heard of gdevelopments? 2Dec 10, 2008 1:02 pm guess thats a no
ive done some checking around and there are no bad reports on the bsa website and he is licensed maybe you can answer this question, would we be better to go with coral homes or run the gauntlet of a builder who isnt a "name brand", how can we ensure that if he goes bankrupt or something we are covered, can you get special insurance? bsa site lists that he's built around 400 homes since he started Re: Anyone heard of gdevelopments? 3Dec 10, 2008 2:56 pm sorry I have no idea about gdevelopments. have never heard of them.We are currently building with coral and they have been absolutely fantastic!
Normally I would also look at a builder who isnt as well known to save some money, but with the economy the way it is at the moment, I don't think I could risk it. Where are you building, cause as much as we are building a coral home I think it really comes down to the actual builder not just the company name. Built a modified "Daydream 279" .. Cor@l Homes on a flat 4473m block!! And lov'n it!!! Re: Anyone heard of gdevelopments? 4Dec 10, 2008 3:03 pm thanks for the response kylie, we'll be building out in ipswich at karalee
im torn, im really driven by the dollar figure, but really worried about building with a smaller builder because we've never built before Re: Anyone heard of gdevelopments? 7Dec 26, 2008 2:28 pm Coral Homes prices are actually generally pretty low, mainly because the standard inclusions are very basic. I'd be rather wary if a smaller builder offered you a $25k saving. Find out exactly what is included, have a look at other examples of the builders workmanship. Re: Anyone heard of gdevelopments? 8Dec 26, 2008 3:13 pm when I went to coral to compare prices I found them between $15,000 to $20,00 more expensive than perry homes and perry home was about 10 sqm bigger.but its a personal choice at the end of the day.I had to say I like there design but most had lack of linen cupboards or only one I got 4.I could have had one added but they wanted a extra $1500 something about have to make garage longer seemed a bit strange to us.us my husband worked in the housing industry for many years.
I would recommdation doing what we did we found a few homes being builder by perry we watched them and then went and asked the people about there experience they we only to happy to tell us.Also I believe every builder has a problem whether they are cheap expensive etc.And sometimes those extras youthink you are getting cost you alot more than if you had gone with the cheaper one. at the end of day you have to be happy with design of the home and whether it is in your budget Wish you all the best. Once you signed the contract, they will find millions excuses to charge you. And have seen their sites unfinished for a long time. 4 24824 As title suggests, looking at using the interlocking Pentablock stacked stone products to replace failing timber retaining… 0 17866 I am building in claymore NSW and this is shown in the building envelope plan. … 0 10034 |
