Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 09, 2008 6:19 pm Hi we are in a difficult situation. We are about to sign our final contract on Thursday. We have just received it to look at and to our horror they have added $6500 to our preliminary contract for a change from bored concrete piers to the P class slab to screw piles to the P class slab. We are really upset as we were already at our monetary limit and M'con has just added this with no discussion-state we have moisture on our site so now require screw piles which are obviously much more expensive. I am at the point where i'm not sure if we should just walk away from M and try another builder (although have looked at at least 100 display homes and the Tribeca 40 is the closest to being perfect). It's so frustrating-they have you by the noose-if you wait around and look at other options the cost of the house just keeps going up each month, with no guarantee you'll find another house that you like, and you feel like you've already invested so much time and money that it's hard to give up.
