We have kid leather picked out too, for both the walls and the architraves and doors, but yours looks great with the oriental white! Hope ours looks okay with kid leather overload. Hehe. We were worried it would be too dark as well, but your pics look great, so now I'm very happy. Building with PD - Regent 23 Cascades on Clyde Estate HomeOne Building Thread - PCI Completed - 28th August. Handover - 11th September. Re: Our Homey - Kitchen and vanities in!! 62Mar 23, 2009 11:26 pm Thank guys for all your lovely comments! I'm getting too excited to contain myself sometimes! I met with the tiler today to make sure he knew what he was doing and where everything was going. Hopefully he understood what I was crapping on about.. hahaha. erinleigh - We were actually going to do the doors in Kidd Leather as well, but thought it might be a bit too much. But considering how light it turned out, I think it might be okay! haywgl - I think I also wanted to put Flokati on the walls, but the lady at Hopetoun told us that we'd have to pay extra for that cuz it was a Wattyl ID colour.. needed three coats instead of 2 coz it was white based, so was considered an upgrade.. correct me if I'm mistaken? Whereas she didnt say anything about having that colour for the doors.. go figure! For the benchtop we picked Tornado (Cat 2) and splashback is Whisper White with the standard glass. I really love having lots of light but just hope that the kitchen isnt too "white". What about you? slingerman - No probs.. I'm pretty sure we've got some somewhere.. If you PM me your email I can send them to you. havingfun - Well, to me, it looks more like a grey tinge than a brown hahaha.. but that's me! You'll have to make the decision for yourself! Re: Our Homey - Kitchen and vanities in!! 63Mar 24, 2009 7:23 am We did pay extra to have the Wattyl ID 3 coat paint system about $2200, but I know of other customers who have ID colours but only in the standard 2 coat system and weren't charged extra Your kitchen will be lovely, Petal has an all white kitchen, white cupboards, white benchtop and white splashback - it looks devine!! We chose QQ Ice for benchtop and White Duck as our splashback - am a bit nervous about the splashback colour now.... My karma ran over your dogma Re: Our Homey - Kitchen and vanities in!! 64Mar 26, 2009 5:17 pm thanks haywgl! i was actually warned away from an all white kitchen by mum, you know.. "you can see all the dirt and oil!!" blah blah.. So I sorta compromised and got a "dirty" white cuz i just want something light and airy and you wont notice the dirt!! Cant you change your mind last minute with the spashback colour? Has it been ordered yet? Is it like a dirty white? LoL.. sorry too many qns.. Re: Our Homey - Kitchen and vanities in!! 65Mar 30, 2009 9:06 pm Ok chickens.. I have more pictures! The tiling has pretty much been finished in our wet areas.. there's just the grouting to go which will hopefully be done this week. The electricians have been through and put in all our chinaman's hats, exhaust fans and power points. I do have a question though.. we've asked for a quad point in the living area for the tv/dvd/playstation etc but the sparky has installed two double power points. I'm not sure if we paid extra for the quad point, but in our final drawings that what it has, SO.. do we bring it up with SS or just leave it cuz technically, there are four power points there..? Lets see.. our splashback has been measured up and benchtop has been ordered, but SS has told us they're out of stock in the colour we've picked for our bench so we may have to wait up to 2 weeks before it gets delivered!! Also, our window mouldings have been put on the front of the house. YAY! I actually thought the house looked a lot better without them, but I guess they're growing on me. We've asked SS to ask the painter not to paint them cuz we're not happy with the colour we were "brainwashed" into picking by the Hopetoun consultant. She said it would look good with the house so we said okay, cuz it didnt look that bad at the showroom. Little did we know.. We picked the same colour for the garage access door to the back yard and when it was painted we were like cuz it didnt look that nice!! SO we're going to paint the mouldings ourselves.. something in between the colour of the roof and our guttering, or something that's a little darker than our front door and garage door. Oh.. it's all too hard! Anyway.. here are the pics! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ haywgl - here is my three-door-cupboard-which-could-have-been-two-doors that's still annoying me! And I'm gonna quote our SS who says we could have hand-over in as little as 5 weeks!! I'm officially starting the count-down! Re: Our Homey - Kitchen and vanities in!! 66Mar 30, 2009 9:09 pm Wow! It looks super!! I can see what you mean about the cupboards - they could easily have done 2 bigger ones, but never mind LoVE your bathroom colours!! Tiles are gorgeous!! I think the mouldings should be grey to match the roof/gutters... Handover in 5 weeks - YAHOOOO!! My karma ran over your dogma Re: Our Homey - Tiling almost complete. Handover on the horizon! 68Mar 30, 2009 10:25 pm Another vote for grey mouldings.........looks great Re: Our Homey - Tiling almost complete. Handover on the horizon! 71Apr 02, 2009 1:43 pm Oooer, i think your shower tiles are the tiles we have picked throughout for our floor! If the are.. I'm loving them, otherwise i wish i'd picked the same ones as you. Haha. Everythings looking great. Not too much longer now. Handover on the horizon! 72Apr 02, 2009 8:27 pm Thanks for the input boys and girls.. I think grey is the way to go! We've also been fiddling with some colours on photoshop and grey looks the best. Now... which shade of grey...? I'll find something.. one day.. erinleigh - The tiles are awesome! They're sortta grey with a brownish tinge with the lil imperfections which is why I liked them in the first place! They're not smooth like wall tiles, but nice and grippy so we wont slip and fall on our butts in the shower.. hee hee I loved them at Hopetouns, then when they were delivered, I wasnt so sure. But now I see them all in the right places I'm rapt! thorney - I'm in love with my pebbles too! Really excited to see how it all came together out of my head! heh heh.. We wanted something that would be a feature, but not stand out too much, AND match with my beautiful oyster linea!! Question: Has anyone used that Dulux paint that looks like render? I dont know what it's called.. but is it easy to use?? Re: Our Homey - Tiling almost complete. Handover on the horizon! 73Apr 06, 2009 5:57 pm Quick update: Tentative PCI has been booked for April 23rd! ARGH!! I'm starting to freak out! Aside from that, we've bought a little sample pot of paint in "Ironstone" as the colour to do our moldings.. It's darker than our "Gunmetal" roof tiles, but lighter than our "Night Sky" guttering so lets see how it goes.. Re: Our Homey - HANDOVER: APRIL 30TH.. On the home stretch!! 74Apr 08, 2009 7:52 pm Well guys.. this is it! The home stretch! PCI is on the 29th and now we finally have a handover date of April 30th!! I'm so excited I can hardly contain myself! By then, it will be a year and 3 days since we bought our land! Just makes you wonder how time flies when you're busy! So those of you who have already had handover, what do we look for at PCI? What's expected of us when we go through the house? I'm just a little nervous as to what I'm going to find.. whether or not they've done things the way we want them done. Also, Kev is unavailable for an inspection before our handover so is there anyone else recommended??? There's still so many things to do after we get the keys.. flooring, lights, blinds, driveway.. I dont know where we're gonna find the time! But ecstatic none-the-less.. I cant think of anything else except finally moving in! Re: Our Homey - HANDOVER: APRIL 30TH.. On the home stretch!! 75Apr 08, 2009 9:42 pm Yay for handover on 30th April... how exciting!! I hope everything goes well at the PCI, I have no suggestions as we are having an independant inspector present at ours. Blog: http://bluemistkids.blogspot.com "Never be afraid to try something new. On the home stretch!! 76Apr 19, 2009 12:09 pm Well, quickly dropped by the house this weekend and both neighbours have moved in already! Our PD Presteige neighbours have this HUGE dog that they have chained up outside on a really long chain and we couldnt go down that side of the house as the fence hasnt been put up yet, just in case he didnt like us very much! But we did have a peek inside (through the nice clean windows) and saw that the BSS guys have been through cuz there were A LOT of brightly coloured sticky things on our walls and door frames. Looking at that, I dont think that we'll be getting handover on the 30th. It would be nice if we could, but we're not in a rush and we're not handing over the last payment until we're happy with the house. Re: Our Homey - HANDOVER: APRIL 30TH.. I have lived next door to that in the past and it was so annoying Good to see lots of stickers everywhere, means they have done their job Blog: http://bluemistkids.blogspot.com "Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark, and professionals built the Titanic." Re: Our Homey - HANDOVER: APRIL 30TH.. On the home stretch!! 78Apr 26, 2009 8:52 pm Heh heh.. thanks Hels. Well we went for our PCI on Thursday and the fence has been put up already so the dog is nice and boxed up in their backyard, BUT they've been parking one of their four cars, yes.. count 'em FOUR sort of half on our front yard. I'm starting to get annoyed and I havent even moved in yet!!! Anyhow, the PCI went ok. We added a lot more red dots to the BSS sticky things we've found around the house. We also managed to get Kev in to do our independent inspection and he didnt find anything too major except for the sagging in part of our ceiling, which he told us will have to be fixed as there is more than a 10mm gap between our cornices and the ceiling which has been filled with plaster! SO.. the cornices and plaster has to be pulled down in the two places and the roof truss has to be re-fixed (or whatever they do to fix it), and we need a re-plaster and re-paint or else we dont hand over final payment. I need it to be perfect before I move in.. I'm so OCD about the little things it makes me crazy sometimes!! Re: Our Homey - HANDOVER: APRIL 30TH.. May Be Slightly Delayed.. 79Apr 26, 2009 9:28 pm That's good about the sagging ceiling being picked up and replaced, even though it's a hassle for you. We have just had to get a sagging roof truss and cornice replaced in our existing house (in preparation for selling) so it's good to pick these things up from the start and not in 9 years time when the builders warranty has expired! Anyhoo... keep us updated as it shouldn't be long now until settlement I expect the next door neighbours won't park on your bit of dirt once you shift in and start landscaping. They probably don't even realise it's pi$$ing you off already Blog: http://bluemistkids.blogspot.com "Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark, and professionals built the Titanic." Re: Our Homey - HANDOVER: May Be Slightly Delayed.. 80May 06, 2009 8:54 pm Okay.. so it's been nearly two weeks since our PCI and we've heard nothing from anyone regarding our handover date. My partner has rung our CSC three times and left messages which havent been returned. Apparently someone has left at the PD Office and our CSC has been swamped with their work. Our SS didnt get Kev's report till Monday and we emailed it to CSC to pass on to him LAST TUESDAY!! It's just so frustrating knowing that it's just so close and yet still so far!! Everytime we ask SS to give us a concrete date, it's always "shouldnt be more than one or two weeks" or "could be as early as next week" or something airy-fairy like that. We went for a sticky beak on the weekend. The rangehood has been installed, the wonky cornices have been taken down, some holes in the plaster have been patched, but not much else has been done since PCI!!! I've also seen some bricks that are chipped but I dont know whether I should mention it to SS, but if it's annoying me now, it will probably annoy me forever! Argh!!! I'm sure they must be getting close to the end of their contracted build time.. but I'm also sure that there's some clause that says that they get extra time to finish the build. It's not our fault that some funky stuff is going down in their office.. but it shouldnt be affecting people's build time. I'm just so annoyed, floating in limbo.. not knowing.. I've had the bank ring and ask whether or not to release the final payment, but we've told them not to yet cuz we dont have a settlement date!! Sorry guys.. just venting. Thanks for listening. In my opinion just a few more indoor plants and you're done.
