You need to ensure that you do not dilute the number of concerns you express to the builder with non-issues otherwise the builder will consider you to be a 'whiner' of some sorts and not take you seriously on more important issues later on. You've done the correct thing in obtaining an opinion from this forum first and you have had a couple of replies confirming that its no problem, so accept it and just be on the look out for real issues. There are many ways to show that you are 'on the ball', just be selective on how you show this. Good Luck with the rest of the building process. Yes, that's exactly what we thought - to bring up with the SS only important issues. Having said that, it can be tricky to know what's an important issue Re: Is this poor framing an issue ? 10Dec 05, 2008 4:31 pm IMO……if you don’t go in there looking to nail gun someone to the rafters, you are showing an interest in your build/investment.
Believe it or not….builders like that. They also like to get pats on the back for a job well done, and that’s very fair! By showing an interest on what is being done, means you care about the quality of work, and again, they like that. By taking up things that you have a concerned about, does not mean you are annoying them, you have every right. They will answer your questions and happily watch you leave! IMPO you can see the bottom plate is nailed to the slab. The nail has chiped off the side of the slab, simple as that. If I was allowed & it was my house I would fix it, hey but as mentioned, pick your fights. Sometimes its better not to look as what you dont know wont bother you. If you are going to monetor your build I feel you have to set a standard at witch you will speak up or shut up. Some times builders will work to the bomb. If you let them get away with this and they know you know about it you cant expect much more from them. Its difficult to know what to say to them in this situationals. I also feel as you work with them get the general feel of who you can talk to the best and maybe mention it in passing, they may not even have noticed the chip and thank you for pointing it out. Well maybe.... Good luck KW “It's just as unpleasant to get more than you bargain for as to get less” George Bernard Shaw. STEFF62 Framing should be fine, but he will only be able to nail the baseplates in, I wouldnt think you can dynabolt them after 24 hours. My question is, how is he… 1 5837 8 9881 Houses have been framed on floor joists since settlement, chipboard flooring is only around for 50 years or so, so why would it not be satisfactory?
