Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 15, 2008 9:30 am Hi people, I need some advice here. We were in the process of building a house in a block of land we bought. We have already signed the building contract with [edited out].The DA application has just been lodged with the developer. coz of some unusual circumstances we can't commit on building the house and would like to sell off the land.Talked to the builder regarding cancelling the contract. They tell me we loose all of our deposit plus some extra amount. we have paid them $ 7000 so far. They claim they have overspend another 3000 which they want us to pay to terminate the contract.so 10K is their claimed cost on the house.they have send me the breakdown of the cost.they got 4000 on admintration and 3000 on commmision charges.isn't that too much.the only work they have done so far is draw the house and landscaping plans and lodged to the developer for approval. what's my option here.should i get a lawyer involved to reduce charges to be paid to builder or fight back with them myself regarding charges. any suggestions are welcome. thanks homemate Re: cancelling building contract 2Dec 15, 2008 9:34 am I have just been through this. The difference being, I pulled out because of their incompetence.
