Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 03, 2008 11:06 pm Well today our current home that were are selling went unconditional and we can finally start the new building story like many before us.
This will be our second home build and we are mainly doing it for more land and the chance to spread out a bit, peace and quiet. We are building the "Retreat" with Plantation Homes on a 4461m2 block at the Spring Mountain estate (40km from Brisbane). House with our mods is 333.5m2 or 36sqs. It will be a big change going from 3km from the water to bushland at our doorstep, but well worth the tree change. Land is still in council for registration of title currently and in the meantime we are getting final estimates finished off with the builder. Great thing second time around is including or removing items from your first time building. The start of many photos Im sure, but two show the block itself and also the floorplan we are building. So here we are... our blog will start up pretty soon. Cheers, Nathan Pic: Block from the top of the street. We have a nice stone wall also We back onto bushland so its nice and tranquil The "Retreat" from Plantation Homes Re: Building at Spring Mountain, Qld : Kitchens and Bathrooms ! 2Dec 04, 2008 9:35 am First of all... congrats on your current house going unconditional!!!
Your chosen floor plan looks great, should suit your block well. We are also building on just over 1 acre. gonna love all that space! Have you any idea on the colours/ bricks yet? Do you have an elevation plan? Your block looks to be in a nice estete also..congrats! Also... have you thought of putting the entry to your garage to the side..would look great.. I wished we had done that Built a modified "Daydream 279" .. Cor@l Homes on a flat 4473m block!! And lov'n it!!! Re: Building at Spring Mountain, Qld : Kitchens and Bathrooms ! 3Dec 04, 2008 10:08 am Wow - what a beautiful block. Spring Mountain is such a pretty name too.
Congratulations, your plan looks fantastic and I look forward to seeing some pics once you start! Re: Building at Spring Mountain, Qld : Kitchens and Bathrooms ! 4Dec 04, 2008 11:29 am Thanks very much for your comments..
Even though the land is all complete (pegged, streetscape, fenced) we don't expect the land will settle before Xmas now, so we wait for the council. There will be plenty of photos to look at once we are going. Nathan Re: Building at Spring Mountain, Qld : Kitchens and Bathrooms ! 5Dec 06, 2008 7:35 am Hi! we are also building on an acre west of Ipswich. We have driven around Spring Mountain it is really pretty! You have a very nice block. Also your plan is really nice too...we have friends that built the older version of the Retreat and they rave (good things!) about the service they got from Plantation! Good Luck and its nice to see another Queenslander on here
Nice pictures too! It took me ages how to load pictures on here! I look forward to watching your build. Our plans are in council so it will probably be a New Year start for us...I hope council hurry up for you! Kylie handover happened 15/6/09...love living on an acre but still so much to do! Re: Building at Spring Mountain, Qld : Kitchens and Bathrooms ! 6Dec 07, 2008 1:37 am Nice block, looks like the front of the house will face north east and the rear face south west?. I like your plan too. Look forward to seeing your build, are you in Logan council?. Re: Building at Spring Mountain, Qld : Kitchens and Bathrooms ! 7Dec 07, 2008 7:30 am I have attached a masterplan I have been working on. We will probably change this a million times though.
There is actually an 8m slope from top to bottom but as the block is approx 150m long its very gradual. House faces N.W. With alfresco and main living facing N, NE and SE. With pool off the back of the alfresco, down towards the back I'm going to be building an a flowing brook and also gazebo retreat for bush style bbq's away from the house. Would like to create a little area where we can setup a campfire etc in winter. Onebuild: Yes its in Logan City Council. Kyiee81: Plantation have been great so far, so lets hope it continues through. Re: Building at Spring Mountain, Qld : Kitchens and Bathrooms ! 9Dec 07, 2008 1:29 pm Nw facing, I was guessing from your first photos by the shadows cast from the trees and thought by the look of the daylight the photo was taken before midday
You have a great plan there look forward to seeing it progress, post lots of pics. I have a block down the rd at Flagstone and I was going to build and use the FHOG but I was made redundant and now no job in a week. No wonder Mr Rudd offered to increase it because noone will be able to use it without a job. Anyway maybe one day I will get to build. Do you have to install a HSTP and water tanks, which one will you use.? I was looking at this one http://www.waterpacaustralia.com/wastew ... violet.htm Re: Building at Spring Mountain, Qld : Kitchens and Bathrooms ! 10Jan 02, 2009 12:05 pm Hi ozzroo,
Great house! We are currently looking for a builder for our 3/4 block and we have considered the Retreat 385 plan. Can you tell me how did you do the site layout diagram? Would like to do a diagram for ours. Many Thanks Re: Building at Spring Mountain, Qld : Kitchens and Bathrooms ! 12Jan 03, 2009 10:32 am suenmatt,
The Retreat 385 layout is also good. As we have space we didnt need to worry about the slimmer width of house. chuth77, As for the masterplan, I am using Adobe Illustrator for this. I placed the contour plan in as a picture then trace the contours onto the drawing itself. The remainder is a lot of symbols and additional elements. I will have a more advanced version coming up soon. Re: Building at Spring Mountain, Qld : Kitchens and Bathrooms ! 14Jan 04, 2009 8:56 pm What a beautiful spot!! We looked at Spring Mountain and fell in love with the place! But due to work locations, we decided to go a bit closer in to the city.
And the Retreat - what a gorgeous home!! That was in our top 2 but they couldn't build it on our block. All the best & I look forward to seeing more pics!
