Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 03, 2008 4:03 pm How soon after your DA is approved does contstuction/knockdown usually begin? I was under the assumption that it was pretty much straight away but I think I might be wrong....
Thanks! Re: When does building begin 5Dec 03, 2008 8:26 pm Do you have a building permit? Our DA took a week, but the permit took 2 months. Once that came through, building began a week later.
It depends on who your builder is, where you're building, what time of year it is, availability of materials ....lots of things. Have you asked your builder? Re: When does building begin 6Dec 04, 2008 6:52 am brittany Not as soon as you want! Typical I guess I'll be asking my builder! Re: When does building begin 7Dec 04, 2008 8:27 am It depends if the council asks for additional reports to be done too. We had delays while geotechnical and hydraulic reports were done. I'd check with your builder if there's anything they can be doing now while you're waiting on the DA, as we could have got the hydraulic report going while council were sitting on their a*se, err i mean, deciding on the DA. Re: When does building begin 8Dec 04, 2008 11:48 am It took us 2 months from DA approved to site pegged out, then another month before formwork started. I guess my builder is well-known to be slow... Building Clarendon Brighton - Done and moved in Sept 2009 Re: When does building begin 9Dec 04, 2008 12:08 pm We FINISHED demolition 7 weeks ago tomorrow, and roughly the same time as Haywgl and Southies. They both have slabs, and I still haven't seen my construction drawings, nor have any idea when site start will be.
There has been no problem with the building permit or finance. I really wanted a slab before Christmas, and at this stage I don't think it is possible with Christmas looming... The frustration is worse than waiting to go into labour. I am so over it. (I'm having a bad day, can't you tell??) Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! There's nothing worse than watching everyone else's houses start and you're left in limbo We know too well
We had our approval granted in April this year. Our house was released to construction on the 8th of August. Our slab went down at the end of Oct. I have no idea what that is in weeks....too long! Re: When does building begin 11Dec 04, 2008 1:18 pm Oh Stormy I'm so sorry! That must be frustrating..... I too hate the waiting game. I'm actually surprised how OK I have been waiting for our first set of drawings but I'm sure it won't last long.... Re: When does building begin 12Dec 04, 2008 1:29 pm Hang on in there stormy. That's a bewdiful house you've selected. C&G -------------------------------- A new building chapter begins.. Ardo That is so funny! I wonder how many people know who Larry Haun is these days.
