Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 01, 2008 10:42 am Hi
I have been watching all the threads with interest and following the fears, the disasters the nightmares and of course the joy and excitement of homes coming alive. Thanks for sharing it. We have started the build and should be traveling the same way - So here's our building thread Our Plans Ground Floor Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ First Floor Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our Facade Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Last Friday when we drove past - Excavation (fill and cut done, concrete blobs around the land and big holes drilled) This is the view from the back to front Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We knew there was going to be a cut but the height of cut at the back and the height the of house off the street height was a very nice surprise. Thanks Snake - As for Altar - We wanted a small area / alcove that we could use as a spot for religious images. Thanks Donuts Our house is total 45 sq (thats including extended garage alfresco and verandahs) Land is 705sqm in outer SE Melbourne Re: Our Build - How long did it take from lockup to handove??? 6Dec 03, 2008 11:50 am Plumbing is in - But the electricity pit is towards the back of the house
Contract has allocated 10 m from the pit Anything over the 10m is an add on cost of 50$ per metre Looks like it will be close to 26 m. Anyone had experiences with this? Would love to hear them Re: Our Build - How long did it take from lockup to handove??? 7Dec 11, 2008 9:28 pm We have updated the blog
We are being framed - Downstairs almost done, upstairs flooring started We finally got a variation for electricity wiring - Builder charged us for the extra 16m - they had to move the meter box and do wiring from back to front of the house Last week they worked on excavation and site preparation Monday this week the slab was poured But they started the frame straight away on Tuesday How long is the time for a slab to cure Is it OK to start a frame straight away after slab? What is the normal procedure????? We are meeting our supervisor tomorrow - Would then know exactly what is the plan We almost bought our building works to a stop this week - We had forgotten to pay the Asset Protection Fee of 120$ to the Council So far has not been stressful - Guess it is early days as yet Re: Our Build - How long did it take from lockup to handove??? 8Jan 13, 2009 7:24 pm Re: Our Build - How long did it take from lockup to handove??? 9Jan 13, 2009 7:28 pm Yes, it looks about right. They'll clean it up at the end of the bricking. Are you building in double brick or is this the wall of the garage? Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Our Build - How long did it take from lockup to handove??? 10Jan 14, 2009 6:33 am Yes Southies - It is the wall of the garage and No we are not building double brick

The benefit is you can tender the project out… 9 20400 No the fireplace doesn’t work. It’s been enclosed. I’m not sure what was removed, as it was done quite some time ago - well before what I can see with photos online… 2 11576 Congratulations! Nice to put that to bed before christmas, now you can relax 3 7168 |
