Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 28, 2008 1:25 pm I notice lately a few post with things people would want to change (l hope there hasnt been a post like this before, being rather new wasnt sure!) i know there was a what would u add, even then, l cant find that!!
So my question to you what would you change if you could go back? For me, our tiles in the wall of our showers, they dont look bad that l hate it, but it is something im not 100% sure i like as much as the rest of the house! They match our floor tiles (as per the 'advice' of the color consultant was the best way to go), it a little too much brown, we will add light features into the rooms to hope to blend it down (maybe a question for michelle, what can we do to take away the focus on alot of brown in the rooms).. That would be the one thing l would change, l'd go the same features as our kitchen wall! Interesting to see what others would change if they could! Re: What would you change 2Nov 28, 2008 1:28 pm heheh a million things! hehe um, i wish i had looked at our plans more carefully...there is a wall that i should have put another window in, cos it "may" be too dark in that corner now...
Wish i had moved the laundry sink bench to the corner so we could put the front loaded under the bench and extend the bench top.... also wish for a bigger WIR hehehehe Re: What would you change 3Nov 28, 2008 1:42 pm I havent thought a lot about the garage entry door and it is actually opening toward the house, and i don't like it, what if, when i open from the garage and someone stand behind the door..
The other thing is the garage back door, i should have made it bigger or get a roller door... and i regret it now Other than that, i am still quite happy for the rest of the house, wish i can keep that way ... I actually changed my garage door to specifically open into the house! It opens into a wide hallway so there is plenty of space there! My concern was opening it into one of the cars in the garage...SMASH! Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! Sink in butlers pantry (it was either a fridge or sink, Mr B desperately wanted a second fridge) That is all really, everything that was important I put in. Mrs B Re: What would you change 10Nov 28, 2008 9:03 pm SuH Southies Smaller powder room More closet space Larger kitchen island Sink on wall with cooktop, not on island More kitchen drawers rather than doors All panes of front awning windows to open More modern toilets Why sink not on island Southies...I still have time to change actually no I don't , the plumbing is in..damn! It's quite a small island bench. I could have made it larger, but I was so sick of being charged a premium for every change I wanted. Re: What would you change 11Nov 28, 2008 9:08 pm Not that we're in yet , but I probably would have put two small square windows in DD's room, like the ones we added to one of the boys' rooms. Not a huge thing, as she's got 2 big windows, anyway, but may have done that in her room...maybe DS 1's as well...?? Having said that, there my have been overlooking/other issues anyway!!!
I'm sure we'll get in and say " It would have been good to......." , but atm I just LOVE everything about my house...except that we're not in it yet!!!!!!!! Solidarity, not solidity.......The Lexicon of Life Re: What would you change 12Nov 28, 2008 11:11 pm A slightly bigger block would have been nice - then we could have extended the garage, and had better access on that side of the house.
I'm sure I'll come up with a few more "I wish we hads...." once we move in. Re: What would you change 13Nov 29, 2008 12:41 am Although our block STILL looks like a paddock, I have one too...
I wish / next time... I will only buy land that has been titled by council and is ready to build on straight away. How can 1 month become 10 months???
