Browse Forums Building A New House Re: 22Feb 16, 2010 4:35 pm mattwalker claego! FRAME STAGE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT INSPECTION! The plumbing, electrical, wall placement, framing, trusses can all be inspected! This is where the builder gets to hide ALL the ******* stuff. Thinkgs like copper touching metal (Very bad!!) rips in sisal, bad plumbing and electrical, walls out of square and not in the right spots, lack of corner blocks in framing .... etc etc... All of this is covered! OK, so some of the biggies at this stage are (apart from the obvious things which should be taken care of by the PCA - such as compliance with the Plans, council, Basix, etc.):
Can anyone add to this? Also, can anyone add some of their problems and how were they fixed? My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ... Re: Pre-plaster inspection - important or not? 23Mar 19, 2010 8:31 pm Hi all Yes, the frame is importaint and so is the rest to the house. As to DIY inspection on a basic B.V. single story home I say why not do it your self. The frame must be streight and on the lines marked out. Bottom plate attached to slab as per code & tolerances guild. Must be solid, solid, solid, no movement in the walls. Smash more nails in if you think it needs it. Add a noggen here & there and your away. Of course you need to have seen a few good frames before and a basic knowledge, but not a degree in construction. I would like to know of what people have found on their frame inspection that was not up to standard.
