Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 23, 2008 2:23 am It's been a while since I posted because it's been insanely busy time. We have now booked our flights to return for our walk through on 19 December and completion on 23rd December! Am eagerly awaiting some pics from our neighbours and SS but thought I'd post what we've got so far. The build itself has seemed to go very quickly (Slab poured mid September and tiler starts internal floors next week as well as kitchen installation etc) and despite the 2 1/2 month delay they do seem to have pulled out all the stops to get it finished for Xmas but won't quite believe it till we return
Am finally feeling excited about the whole thing as opposed to completely frustrated and stressed which is a nice change! The last provisional sum for the kitchen cupboards and vanities in both bathrooms in 2 pac finally came in and was an increase of over $3000 (from $4500) which was a bit of a shock but it's a big kitchen and we thought it still seemed ok. Anyway, it's late so I'll post these pics and post more when we have them. I take a ton when we return together with all the internal stuff It's been such a help finding this forum and I wanted to thank everyone who has helped me with their replies but in particular, Ancient Mariner, Michelle, Kylie & To do list, thanks so much it’s made an at time seemingly impossible task of building from overseas that bit easier. You should be able to double click on image to enlarge (just checked in preview and pics are there but small - better small than not there at all?!!!) Enjoy the pics!!! Very nice house plan. Hope you can post lots more photos once you get back. Re: We're coming to the end of the journey!!! 5Nov 23, 2008 5:00 pm So, you might hit your deadline after all. Congratulations, that is fast. If they do get the inside fitout done by the 23rd you'll have done really well.
One bit of advice: check that your temporary downpipes are actually in line (vertically) with your drain connections before the plumber puts the downpipes in. If they're offset you'll end up with visible elbows. BTW, which estate is that in Beerwah? The one just south of town on the Bruce, or the one toward Landsborough? Re: We're coming to the end of the journey!!! 6Nov 23, 2008 5:08 pm I’m very happy for you brisvegas.
I hope it is exactly what you hope for! We're going with the same system as you, very happy that we went that way. Yes they have been moving fast, it's hard to believe that this time next month we'll have the keys! Hellodad yes the woods treated and the frame was cut onsite for an exact fit and apparently done very well. I'm just hanging to see more up to date photos, especially the render as that was one of the hardest decisions regarding the colouring, didn't have the benefit of photoshop of similar but the wonderful Michelle did send us a sample of her recommended colour so at least we got to see as close a match as possible. Will update with more photos as soon as I have them!
Now back to my ridiculously long to do list! Re: We're coming to the end of the journey!!! 9Nov 26, 2008 6:56 pm hey brisvegas!!!!
