Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 21, 2008 8:37 pm I have to ask because I just can't work it out..........
This is the option of roof tile we have been given in our spec, there about 14 different colours........This being one of them. I was actually starting to work out my colors and had started to think I would like a white roofed house. With that in mind we thought maybe colorbond would be the way to go because of that but we have received preliminary costings today and for the upgarde to colorbond is $5300. My question is that the roof company do this as an option Would it look really strange or has anyone ever seen this done? I just can't tell if its not quite right. Re: White Roof Tiles.........????? 2Nov 21, 2008 8:41 pm I've never seen white roof tiles - I can't imagine they'd stay white for very long - the bird (& bat) poop that covers our current roof would look quite spectacular on that background! Built a Clarendon 'Balmain' 2008 Re: White Roof Tiles.........????? 3Nov 21, 2008 8:42 pm It looks ok in your photo PK, but I would want to see one in real life before deciding. Can you ring the tile company and ask for addresses that have been built with this colour, like the brick companies do?
Or maybe someone can do you a photoshop. Re: White Roof Tiles.........????? 4Nov 21, 2008 8:49 pm Donuts I definately want to see it on a house .....but I don't think I have ever seen it. We will get in contact with the roof company and see if anyone has ever ordered it. I am definately not saying I want it but I am intrigued.
I was hoping someone in the H1 family may have seen it in their travels. Maxie very good point but would that be the same for the colorbond aswell....There are so many benefits to the light roof but there are alot of cons aswell. Re: White Roof Tiles.........????? 5Nov 21, 2008 8:53 pm I have a bristile roof tile catalogue that shows a really, really light tile.... check out their website PK... they may have some pics on there. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: White Roof Tiles.........????? 6Nov 21, 2008 9:06 pm Hmm looks ok to me but how it will look when the house is complete is up to you and your colour selection(external)...BUT I did hear that the black tiles are better in hot days (better heat resistance) im not so sure so you wouldn't wanna listen to me but check that with someone..
Re: White Roof Tiles.........????? 7Nov 21, 2008 9:11 pm I just had a look Jo , but I could find the tile just not on any houses. It does look like a nicer tile with them though. Thanks anyway Re: White Roof Tiles.........????? 9Nov 21, 2008 9:34 pm I think I saw them Donuts, I think they didn't look anygood and I was hoping I could see it on something that did look good, I think I am kidding myself and I will just have to go back to plan number A and stick with the charcoal roof tile........... We are putting some colours together at the moment with My Virtual Home. Hopefully I can post them soon.
But Thankyou by the way. Re: White Roof Tiles.........????? 10Nov 22, 2008 4:08 pm i have actually just seen this colour roof tile recently in the estate im building! (wyndham waters estate near point cook west of melb)

Re: White Roof Tiles.........????? 12Nov 22, 2008 7:46 pm Hey Woodsey, Thankyou so much Wild Rice is actually one of our options, so its really good to see it on a grand scale with a new home.
I have to say wow it really adapts to alot of different colours doesn't it. I can see why you like it so much. I think it looks great. We have with a fair bit of number crunching come to the realisation that we should do the colorbond regardless now as this is what we really like to begin with so I think The tiles will no longer be an option. Thanks again though. Nice looking home you have there. Re: White Roof Tiles.........????? 13Nov 22, 2008 10:27 pm A 15 yo house nearby to us has a white tiled roof.

I went to the Bristile (CSR) showroom and had a poke at the tiles, for those who've not yet done the walk around the display centers they have them all in a panel facing the same direction with every possible colour, we arrived at 2pm so the sun had been up and cooking the tiles for plenty of time... the Black I could not touch, the lightest non-what was untouchable for more than 5 seconds at a time, the white was maybe 4-5 degrees warmer than ambient and pleasant to touch. we're thinking the white roof and "sand dune" bricks to keep the sun off, not sure what facade would match this though! Others have said the same. Funny how many say its such a change (good) to see something beside CB. I'm quite happy now we went tiles and not CB. The more I see CB - and boy its now everywhere - roofs, fences, gates, sheds, etc - the less I like it. I remember as you came into Sydney in a plane and saw all the red tile roofs and we'd laugh at it. Well - its now all CB ...
