Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 20, 2008 11:25 am Hi there
You know how the bathroom and laundry areas of these homes is slight raised, looks like about in an inch, can you request that they don't do that? I have lived in many homes with tiles throughout that don't have that. I think it is ugly. I can understand the need for it if you have carpet areas and there is some water spill. EBH have told me I have no choice. Are they wrong? I just want flat floors through out! Hope this makes sense! Thanks for your feedback! Franco Re: Raised Bathroom and Laundry floors 2Nov 20, 2008 11:33 am To get the flat look, the tiled area has to be recessed about 25 mm. There's a cost associated with it.
There is no technical reason why all floors canno tbe at the same level. Demolition August 2009, Construction Started September 2009, Completed December 2010 Re: Raised Bathroom and Laundry floors 3Nov 20, 2008 11:35 am Are you having tiles in these areas? What type of flooring do you have else where?
Sorry, trying to understand what you want. All that needs to be done is the concreter has to recess your wet areas by about 25 - 30mm. So there will be a cost involved. Its a pain in the butt factor for the concretor and they have to be accurate thats why it easier not to do it.
Although difficult not impossible. The reason that its raised normally is to get your tiled areas to fall towards the floor waste. Re: Raised Bathroom and Laundry floors 6Nov 20, 2008 3:11 pm Sorry I'm abit confused.
I thought all houses which have tiling throughout the house have one level between the laundry and whatever its next to. Is there really a hight difference? I will have to keep a keep eye next time i look at display homes.
