They're not actually all that good a match - but the best we could get. The floor has quite a variety of colours in it anyway, so the trims match some of it. Re: House of horrors - Kek's Bridgeport 35 - ALL MOVED IN! 83Dec 07, 2008 5:25 pm Busy day today.... lots of little things got done.
I love playing in my new house, but hate it when it's time to leave. Only for another week though! We have our eldest son organised to move in once the appliances go in, just to be on the safe side. He'll happily sleep in the family room, as long as he has a mattress and a TV. And his PS3. Being without internet for a few days may be a challenge for him though. Once the carpet's in the following day, he can move into his own room. The rest of us will only be a couple of days behind him. Can't WAIT! http://keksmovingonup.blogspot.com/ Re: House of horrors - Kek's Bridgeport 35 - ALL MOVED IN! 85Dec 07, 2008 8:07 pm kek,

I spent ages hunting for one that wasn't the same as all the others, and finally found it at a nursery in Yan Yean Rd, Plenty.
Just email them and ask for your closest retailer- that's how I tracked mine down. VJ, hope your place moves along fast. Re: House of horrors - Kek's Bridgeport 35 - ALL MOVED IN! 87Dec 08, 2008 7:19 am Your home looks beautiful kek, is that champagne I see on that fabulous kitchen bench The colours are gorgeous, it's all very welcoming. Did you get the dunny roll holders from Gray's....I was this close to buying those myself, but after purchasing some suspect bath towels from them I opted to go to Reece, I like a stylish loo roll holder too. Where did you get your towel rack from? Grays? I have this one as well and OH nearly had a coronary when he saw the price but I looked everywhere for a cheaper version and they were all much of a muchness. Love your lighting choices, look forward to more pics Re: House of horrors - Kek's Bridgeport 35 - ALL MOVED IN! 88Dec 08, 2008 9:03 am kek Bam, the letterbox is made by Distinctive Pillars & Mailboxes (they're in Dandenong) http://www.dpam.com.au/pages/prod_mail.htm. Re: House of horrors - Kek's Bridgeport 35 - ALL MOVED IN! 89Dec 08, 2008 5:00 pm Su, yes it is champagne ....we've had one or two celebrations this past week. I'm sure there'll be a few more once we move in.
The dunny roll holders were from Grays, and I'm seriously disappointed that the design is so stupid. No big deal though, they were cheap, so I'll just get some more elsewhere. The towel rails were also from Grays, and THOSE are perfect. No way would my husband come at paying retail for those things. I've been lusting after one for several years, and when I first looked at them, they were $600 for a small one. I got these two for about $220 all up. Re: House of horrors - Kek's Bridgeport 35 - ALL MOVED IN! 90Dec 09, 2008 10:59 am We had Bath Magic come out this morning to repair a chip in our bathroom vanity door. In spite of my email to PD last Thursday, requesting that they authorise the Bath Magic guy to also clean our stained pantry shelves, he had no such work order. I walked around the house while he was there working and just got more and more angry.
Handover was 11 days ago, and we still have a feature niche with no shelves and the downlight hanging out of the bulkhead. Our kitchen feature niche still has a crooked shelf. My husband ended up replacing the strike plates on the bathroom door. None of our privacy bolts work properly. We're still missing a plug in the ensuite. Our damaged bifold door handles and locks haven't been replaced. The painter hasn't shown up to finish the touch-ups that weren't done, including a big scratch in the front door. The sections of fascia that were supposed to be replaced still haven't been (we were told this would be done last Friday). I'm completely fed up. We have appliances going in tomorrow - well, presumably - and the electrician and plumber are supposed to fix a few things while they're there. And our carpet will be in on Thursday. We're moving in Friday, no matter what, and I want this stuff done NOW. It seems we still have to constantly chase people to get the simplest things done. I'm going to ring the site supervisor now....he had better be available TODAY. Re: House of horrors - Kek's Bridgeport 35 - ALL MOVED IN! 92Dec 09, 2008 11:45 am I think I need more than champagne... several Scotches might do the trick.
My husband has spoken to our SS this morning, and he's supposed to ring me. He hasn't. I've just left a voicemail message for him. I hope he's busy running around getting our new handles, locks, plug etc, and ringing tradies to organise them to do what's needed. Might give the painter a call now - I have his number.... These are all just annoying little things - some of them we can easily do ourselves, but we're being stubborn. After all, why should we do work that we've paid for someone else to do? I'm told the fascia will be done today. We'll see. Re: House of horrors - Kek's Bridgeport 35 - ALL MOVED IN! 94Dec 09, 2008 11:55 am oh dear kek. I hope PD fix it before xmas! it is not fair that you have to spend the time chasing after tradesman, this is what the SS should be doing! Our SS tried to get us to accept the house keys first, then he said he will give us the painter's details and WE organise for them to finish all the paint touchups. DH was angry, he told our SS that this was his job, and we paid him to do it. Good thing our SS got it done in less than 1 week! Tell your SS to do his job! Re: House of horrors - Kek's Bridgeport 35 - ALL MOVED IN! 95Dec 09, 2008 12:56 pm At least our flooring guys are reliable. On Friday night, we discovered a couple of the metal trim strips across doorways had lifted, so we rang them first thing Monday morning. Today they were back to fix it, no problem, no argument.
Still waiting for that call back from SS..... Re: House of horrors - Kek's Bridgeport 35 - ALL MOVED IN! 96Dec 09, 2008 12:58 pm Bummer! This is starting to sound like a common problem with PD. Our ex neighbours built with them out your way earlier this year. They had lots of little problems ( sound similar to yours ) like cracked tiles, paint touch ups required, power point for H2O tank too far from the actual tank, missing and /or broken flyscreens etc. etc. Nothing that they thought should hold them up from accepting the keys as they were told these problems would be fixed ASAP! 2 months later.....still waiting, despite lots of phone calls and emails and the like. Hope you have more luck! Re: House of horrors - Kek's Bridgeport 35 - ALL MOVED IN! 97Dec 09, 2008 1:14 pm Back to the skirting board topic.... this is how our skirtings/trim strips look:
Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ 'Scuse the dust everywhere - I've given up till the carpet is in. Anyway, imagine those skirting boards with 30mm less height (standard 60mm skirtings as opposed to our 90mm). The decorative bits (technical term ) would be sitting right on top of the trims. Or maybe even slightly below.... If you're planning on floorboards, and you're not going to attach skirtings over the top or have them raised, then you might want to think about upgrading to the higher ones. I'm just saying.... Re: House of horrors - Kek's Bridgeport 35 - ALL MOVED IN! 98Dec 09, 2008 1:26 pm Ooh, that looks a lot nicer than the use of quad stips I have seen in some display homes! Yes, we've gone for 92 or 96mm skirting boards throughout. We want boards throughout ( yes, even in the bedrooms! ) so there is going to be a lot of nailing back on/filling/painting etc if we don't go for the quad strip option! Thanks for the pic, that makes me feel better. Oh, and love that colour on your wall - is that a feature wall or what you have gone with throughout??? Re: House of horrors - Kek's Bridgeport 35 - ALL MOVED IN! 99Dec 09, 2008 1:34 pm Grace, we specified the triangular strips rather than the rounded quad - I think it looks much nicer.
The wall colour in that pic is the one we've used throughout most of the house, except for bathrooms and feature walls. The colour is Castilian in Wattyl ID. Skirtings are Pearly Gates in a nice shiny high gloss. Re: House of horrors - Kek's Bridgeport 35 - ALL MOVED IN! 100Dec 09, 2008 1:37 pm We didn't upgrade our skirts and I am no wishing we had of, we are having timber floors too.
I'm thinking we have the option to ask the fixer guy (is that who does skirtings) to put the skirting boards up about 1-2cm higher off the floor so we don't loose so much. Also I'm thinking if we get the quad painted in the same high gloss white - it will look like an extension of the skirting and add some height - I know one of H2B's friend did this and so did P&B and it looked fine. My karma ran over your dogma Joe, it depends on your certifier but we are noticing the ones we deal with are really cracking down.
