Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 18, 2008 9:21 am Hi Everyone,
Well if feels like i can officially start my own building adventure on here to share with everyone. As it seems more real now that the land has finally settled. It has been a long proces from our first deposit back in begining of March. Land was meant to be titled in May and finally titled in September. Our final contracts were written up and all our upgrades finalised, we signed our contracts, chose all our colours and extras and now we wait. Settlement took place yesterday after dramas with the bank, was meant to be last friday and after making to calls to ensure we didn't have to pay any extra amount on the day, they told us 'no the bank has given us enough' i get a call at 4.30 to say that we will need to pull $14000 out of thin air before 10am the next morning, i go to transfer money from savings account only to realise this needs to be done before 4pm for it to go through the next business day, so that didn't happen, it was all so disorganised and messy and stressful. We Check our account balance last night and they have decided to dump the full amount of funds in to our savings.. Another misktake and more phone calls. So we now have a block of land and the full amount of debt for the land and the completed house. My husband was very tempted to make a cash withdrawl and run away O/S. So i suppose i'll put some photos up Nothing real interesting at the moment, but better than none i suppose. Pics inc 2Nov 18, 2008 9:31 am Hi RosieA! Good luck with everything. I like the colours you've chosen, they remind me of a lot of the display homes we've been to lately (and they always look great).
I'd like to say I'm surprised at the bank making so many mistakes...but I'd be ******. Somehow if something can go wrong, a bank will find a way to make it so. Pretty ridiculous. You would think they could get it right given that it's what they do every day. What town are you building in? Everything I know, I learned from SBS. Is it usual to have the land titled and then settlement done a few months later? I thought once the land titled, you can settle it? As you can see, i dont know much about these things, still waiting to go through it myself in May 09 hopefully! And i bought my land back in March of this year!
Anyway, back to you, can you post us a plan of your house? Would love to see it. Idiots are fun, that's why there is one in every village! - Dr. House - Re: Building the Ashgrove 27- Land has settled!! Pics inc 5Nov 18, 2008 10:59 am Walls: Wattyl Kid Leather
I choose this color too. My house painting is completed. I went to have a look. I love it. Boral Bricks - Brown Terrain We have similar taste again. The color is nice. Enjoy the progress... Re: Building the Ashgrove 27- Land has settled!! Pics inc 6Nov 18, 2008 2:01 pm Thanks for the kind words.
Wonderland: wow that is a long wait. It wasn't long between our titles and settlement just the delay of the titles itself. Initially being May and then eventually released in sep. But i'd expected it to take longer, as the stage before ours was delayed. Mikeval: I'd love to see pics if you have any? or a blog? its hard fining photos of the same colours etc. I still can't visualise it properly.
