Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 16, 2008 8:42 pm So you may or may not know about our last adventure. Well its been a long time coming but I thought in anticipation of our new plans being finalised tomorrow I would start a thread for our build........again.
We have submitted our plans for pricing but it has been roughly 6 weeks since we started talking to this new builder and we have come full circle with using one of their plans and adjusting it to getting our own plan drawn up. Yay....So here is a couple of very boring pics of our block. Just so you are all in the know, our little parcel of land is 343m2 it is a corner block in a small estate that used to be a large house with land area that catered for looking after horses and giving them a small track to run on. It is an already established area aprox 10km from the city. This is probably not our final home but we are planning on making it very comfortable as we will be here until our boy at least starts school(in 4 years) We are allowed 60% site coverage and we wanted to fit a 4bed 2 bath and some yard and a pool and DH's precious storage area inside the garage. we have also managed to get an Alfresco built in under the main roof of the house. So lets hope this time it all goes to plan otherwise plan C will come into place. Anyway here is the block and hopefully tomorrow you can see the plan and facade. Fingers crossed. http://i511.photobucket.com/albums/s360/gweluphome/PB150137.jpg http://i511.photobucket.com/albums/s360/gweluphome/PB150138.jpg The small sign on the block is Dh trying to make the ar$eholes that dumped their rubbish on our block come up with another idea for their next lot. It cost us $43 for a tip run of their crap. Vent over. Re: Our new adventure....still in plannig....seems like forever 2Nov 16, 2008 8:45 pm Great news gweluphome. Fingers crossed it all starts to happen for you both tomorrow. WOW that's going to be a snug fit. I am really looking forward to seeing the new design as i thought you had some terrific ideas last time too.
I look forward to the next lot of photos and the plans. Re: Our new adventure....still in plannig....seems like forever 5Nov 16, 2008 9:13 pm Thanks you Kexkez, yes a snug fit alright and thats been the hiccup but we are trying our best to use the lot to the best of its ability. I think we have done ok.
Donuts, thankyou we are excited but still cautious as I don't want to get my hopes up and then get dissapointed again. The houses so far are all very nice and I think being a smaller blocked area everyone has had to be clever in their planning. SuH, many more updates for sure I can stop bugging everyone else for a change and use some of my own ideas on my own house and I too have a Pole I thought you might recognise. It is a younger version , possibly son of Pole and he is not blocking any amazing views. just providing the path some night light. Re: Our new adventure....still in plannig....seems like forever 6Nov 16, 2008 11:09 pm That is small...and here I was thinking that our 540m2 block was small. Good luck and fingers crossed that everything turns out better than you expect. Re: Our new adventure....still in plannig....seems like forever 7Nov 17, 2008 6:49 am Hi gweluphome
Wow Fitting 4br and pool and storage and alfresco in 343 I am impressed how you got you managed all that - Looking fwd to seeing your plans Good luck. Cheers beegee Wow, it is amazing what can be done!!! 9Nov 17, 2008 7:49 am That sure is a small block, we are currently looking at an older house on a 597m2 block and the thought of that scares me as we had a 867m2 before that. I am interested to know about the house. This is probably a silly question but are you having a 2 story house? What kind of pool are you having? Will you only have room for a lap pool? I will be very interested in seeing what your home will be like. I am rather excited for you. I just love the thought of building. Have fun. Re: Our new adventure....still in plannig....seems like forever 11Nov 17, 2008 7:59 am MonkeyUpatree, We have come from a 620sqm and our house was bigger than our new block but that is the challenge this time around. Its not easy moving closer to the city and finding a big block.
Beegeers and Haywgl Paula, Hopefully plans today and I can finally contribute my own photos. Maurita, Yes 2 storey and probably a lap pool along the fencline. I hopeit all fits ok. With our new design we should get a similar yard to our last house which was all house. Re: Our new adventure....still in plannig....seems like forever 12Nov 17, 2008 8:02 am Yay! I've been looking forward to this thread. Can't wait to see your plan and what you do with your little block!
As you know we have virtually no front setback, and we also made sure that we would build double story on the whole footprint. Re: Our new adventure....still in plannig....seems like forever 13Nov 17, 2008 4:31 pm Wow I can't believe I am finally posting a new set of plans.
The facade is not finalised....I am not to sure about the limestone look but other than that we are done......There are upgrades we are planning but for quoteing purposes we are keeping it simple and we will add the important upgrades if they are reasonable. Just so you know also the outline around the plan is the actual shape and size of our block. So that is our back yard around the side. That very sharp back corner will hopefully be our pool area. http://i511.photobucket.com/albums/s360/gweluphome/facade-1.jpg Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Our new adventure....still in plannig....seems like forever 14Nov 17, 2008 4:39 pm I would like a bloody explaination as to how you have a 350m2 block.... and more cupboards than me!!!!

Jo, surely I don't have more cupboards than you Thats not possible ..... and yes we are much happier with this plan alot less angles which sort of did my head in, on the other plan...this one is alot simpler inside but it gives us the option now of adding a few more niceties. Who needs an Architect and a Designer Thanks Seakyl, Michelle and Haywgl, we really are happy with this plan its now fingers crossed again that this one comes in on budget. Clarity, Our facade I am still getting used to I will have to start looking at clours and see what works with the limestone feature and render. Together. It is amazing what you can do these days with different shaped and sized blocks. No the fireplace doesn’t work. It’s been enclosed.
