Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 29, 2009 6:41 pm Hi all,
As the title of the topic states. We'll probably end up building the 'Bardot' with PD as it seems the best option for our land. I like every aspect of the design except the Rumpus. It's opened from both end and I'd like to use it as a TV Theatre. Throughout your experience, would PD be able to switch the Rumpus with Bed 2 and add a doorway through the Living room ? Thanks Link: http://porterdavis.com.au/content/House ... rdot29.pdf Re: Can Porter Davis modify their design (floorplan) ? 2Jan 29, 2009 6:49 pm I'm building the Cremorne with PD - we didn't change room positions, but we did add walls to close off open plan formal living areas and such with no problem.
I just looked at the Bardot floorplan and what you are suggesting seems pretty simple and wouldn't be a huge structural change so I don't see why not...ask them My karma ran over your dogma Re: Can Porter Davis modify their design (floorplan) ? 3Jan 29, 2009 7:07 pm Hi iTalk,
We are building the Beaumont with PD and it has the Rumpus and Bedrooms just as you would like them (so does the Hayman). Comparing the Bardot plan with those, it doesnt seem like a major change for them and it should be doable. The only structural change we made was removing the backside Rumpus window, nothing major and it was done without any issues. Built PD Beaumont 35 - One year down in the new house.. still so much to do.. Re: Can Porter Davis modify their design (floorplan) ? 5Jan 29, 2009 7:19 pm Really?!! .. but then the Cremorne is Lifestyle as well!! ..so they really shouldnt be able to use that as an excuse...
i guess iTalk you wont know unless and until you ask them.. Built PD Beaumont 35 - One year down in the new house.. still so much to do.. Re: Can Porter Davis modify their design (floorplan) ? 6Jan 30, 2009 6:43 am I've done a walk through of a PD house plan I like and adding door's wasn't a problem 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.' Louis Pasteur Vegie garden: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=27637&start=0 My Backyard Adventure Re: Can Porter Davis modify their design (floorplan) ? 7Jan 30, 2009 9:27 am If you put it like that, they will probably say no. They do not "move" rooms.
If you put it like, can I add a door here and move this wall 1mtr and then the room next to it, can I move that 0.5mtr etc, you'll find that they will say yes in most cases. You can make things bigger/smaller/ add doors move walls a bit as long as you stay within the basic layout of the plan, we found. You know it's going to be a HT not a bedroom it's the size of the room etc not the label you need to get hung up on. Good luck. Re: Can Porter Davis modify their design (floorplan) ? 8Jan 30, 2009 10:24 am They wont do the changes we wanted - said they dont move "wet areas".

Re: Can Porter Davis modify their design (floorplan) ? 9Jan 30, 2009 1:10 pm We have made a few structural changes to our house (Illoura 33) such as moving the rumpus wall 800mm into the master bed, added a wall to the loungeroom with doors and voids and made the garage wider. None of it was a problem. Blog: http://bluemistkids.blogspot.com "Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark, and professionals built the Titanic." Re: Can Porter Davis modify their design (floorplan) ? 10Jan 30, 2009 1:15 pm We made structural changes to the standard plan, but, as Bam said, they won't , under any circumstances, move wet areas. One of the things we did was add 600mm to the rear of the house, and that had to start from the back of the Powder Room. Our other changes were happily accommodated, and at what DH tought was a reasonable cost. Because I'll be adding a Cupboard along the corridor, he said that they'll be charging us the price of the extra door only
We're now set with PD's Bardot29 floorplan. Thank you all for your informative replies ... Re: Can Porter Davis modify their design (floorplan) ? 12Feb 01, 2009 2:54 pm Most voulme builders won't move the wet areas as they are all set in a certain patterns so taht they can build so many and on time...fair enough i guess.
Glad they help you out with the cahnge, they did the same for us on the Heywood 29... Look forward to your build... Glad they help you out with the cahnge, they did the same for us on the Heywood 29... Look forward to your build... No problem. I'll start my blog once the build starts. It's unfortunate that my land will be titled (or settled!!) in late May or early June I wasn't told that when I put my name in the ballet unfortunately, but then this will give me few months to save for the furniture and small bits and pieces.. I was about to go with the Heywood but went with the Bardot instead. It looked a lot larger and has study room as well. I see that you're building in Craigieburn, where about ? Mine will be in Central Park Re: Can Porter Davis modify their design (floorplan) ? 14Feb 02, 2009 6:19 pm We love the Heywood and the plans are very similar but suit us as we didn't want to have an additonal study. We are building not far from you near the new schools, on Paddington Street ans Willandra Street...it is a great area...
Let us know how you go.... I don't know where the new school is, but I will be building next to the proposed Town Centre. I'll start my blog as soon as I get the land settled in May, the 22nd Re: Can Porter Davis modify their design (floorplan) ? 16Feb 03, 2009 7:31 pm the new scholls are just the other side of the lake, down towards GRand Boulevard on Windrock Street....
