Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 16, 2008 11:55 am Our DA has recently gone in and we're now anxiously awaiting the decision!
One of our council stipulations is that a double garage needs to have two separate doors (and subsequently a brick pillar between the two), but we'd like to have a single door (double width). Unfortunately, the majority of the other houses in the street have the single doors making the "but everyone else has it" approach useless. Other than we think it looks better, does anyone have recommendations on what we can submit to council to improve our chances of have the DA approved as is? Similarly, how should we approach the council about it? Should we even do this or do we just leave it with them? Is an email too impersonal, or vice versa, is a visit to the council over the top? Thanks in advance. Re: Making a submission to improve our chances of DA approval? 2Nov 16, 2008 2:29 pm I'd write a nice polite letter about it - then once you're DA has been received - see if you can speak with the officer assessing your DA either in person or over the phone.
Does the Council's DCP explain why the garage doors must be singles? If it's for aesthetic reasons - you could explain how your door is aesthetically pleasing without the pole.
