Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Terracotta roof tiles...perfect tile!!! 41Nov 15, 2008 9:27 am The other point is the tiles change the perception of the brick.... the Swiss profile colours make it seem creamier.
The Arezzo Blend makes the brick look more muted.... that's the other bonus! I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. And I think I'm willing to sacrifice other things! Quote: But you hit the nail right on the head. It does open up other avenues of colour for us. Every combo I have come up with throughout this whole process has been perfectly matched.... with a red/orange roof dumped on top. Confused But this looks like it was a conscious choice.... like it's meant to go. Does that make sense? Yep Joles, I think you've decided - go for it (bugger the electricity!)....it looks fabulous! I do think the new tile does blend with the charcoal color scheme better. Now you just need PK to start driving around Perth Still not in. Don't ask!? Re: Terracotta roof tiles...perfect tile!!! 43Nov 15, 2008 9:44 am Oo Joles that new tile is lovely. Really lovely. And if most people have the standard terracotta it would be lovely to be different.
Sounds like it's time to decide what you are willing to let go for it. Or otherwise stick to the standard blend which is still very nice. Re: Terracotta roof tiles...perfect tile!!! 44Nov 15, 2008 9:53 am Bel better than that I just googled some of the suburbs with homes for sale in some coastal areas.... But the camera is on the car and if I see any more I will snap some..
It probably is a little more used over here. There are alot of mediterranian homes by the beach and down in the southern suburbs...... The tile really does lend itself to alot of different styles aswell.... There is one pretty well known apartment that uses it down in Mandurah on the canals.....It looks pretty much like your on a holiday when you look at this place...........I think it actually is one of Dennis Commetti's holiday stays.....here is a couple of pics Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ and the well known one Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ and on a much much mcuh larger scale......My holiday home(Just kidding Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Terracotta roof tiles...perfect tile!!! 45Nov 15, 2008 9:59 am Pk... most of those are in the Bristile brochure.... so for once it is all about WA!!!!!
A couple of those are blends I think.... but yep that's pretty much it! As you can see, it really only works with very, very plain masonry/brick so that's why it will be perfect!!!!! There are a few houses on my estate that use them, but the majority use the Swiss if they go for Terracotta. Well, if we don't put the wood burner and the spa in straight away it'll be fine! The provisions can be made for them and then I'll save up. Now... the old woman was taken to hospital last night cos they thought she was having a heart attack... it wasn't, and she's fine and home now.... but might not hit her with it just yet! Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Terracotta roof tiles...perfect tile!!! 46Nov 15, 2008 10:34 am I hope she is ok...... I feel bad talking that way now.....Sorry Jo........
Like I said if I see any I will take snap for you. There was another one but looked way to mexican on real estate pages. I'm glad you've got the brochure to see it on a grand application.............Still looks good and yes it suits you..............It makes a statement. The wood burner and spa are definate backburners for this......You can always entice some hot hunk to get in the bath with you.. .......and What do you need to burn wood for? [/img] Re: Terracotta roof tiles...perfect tile!!! 47Nov 15, 2008 2:57 pm The Arezzo blend does look great.
We do have a house being built in our estate that, I am pretty sure, has the swiss ivory one. Re: Terracotta roof tiles...perfect tile!!! 49Nov 15, 2008 6:32 pm Lovely tile! $9000 WOAH! But then we paid $4000 odd to upgrade to colorbond
DH spent $8000k on refridgerated a/c - I think we can all have our little luxuries My karma ran over your dogma Re: Terracotta roof tiles...perfect tile!!! 50Nov 15, 2008 8:52 pm I saw that roof tile on the website, and thought how perfect it would be for you. Didn't realise it would cost that much to upgrade though. I guess you need to decide your priorities. Again, that roof tile is perfect.
Hope your Mum is OK after that scare. Judie Re: Terracotta roof tiles...perfect tile!!! 51Nov 15, 2008 10:52 pm Joles
The tiles look gorgeous..... This is More FYI since u are in Mel. a friend of our building used terracota tiles The problem they faced was that most of the terracotta tiles are from NSW and other states. They are not made in Victoria. Some of the terracotta tiles are like ceramic tiles - The colour is only on the top layer but not baked fully in. As a result of the travel there were a few tiles that were chipped and they had issues sorting this out. Not sure if all the details is still holding good because we did not go down that path so did not check it out. Regards beegee Re: Terracotta roof tiles...perfect tile!!! 53Apr 02, 2009 3:47 pm Hi, I know it's quite late as this thread started a few months ago, but there is an area near us called Port Bouvard or more precisely, North Port (development name) actual suburb is Wannanup, WA, 6210. One of the convenants for building in Port Bouvard was that you had to use these tuscan, mediteranian type tiles. It is a coastal suburb with man made canals too. It is located near the impressive Dawesville Cut. The effect of the area looks fantastic. In fact, one of the photos posted on this thread is one of the roof's in this area. If you have a look on the open to view website for houses for sale in this area, you will see them with excellent photos of how they look. Also, if you enter Port Quays in Google Maps, then do a street view you will have a close up of the building used for the brochure. Sorry I am late with this posting, but fairly new to this site and when I have time I read through some of the older posts. I hope all has worked out for you. . Re: Terracotta roof tiles...perfect tile!!! 54Apr 02, 2009 3:51 pm I have ended up with a builder that uses a company that doesn't have a Terracotta tile in a profile I can use. So I'm stuck with concrete.... oh well! I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself.
