My apologies for being pedantic, but just remembering what happened with another thread a few weeks ago... better to be safe than sorry! No, don't be sorry - sooo glad you noticed....I was "doing the colorbond commercial" and just looking at the roof! Still not in. Don't ask!? http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e368/bel001/roof3.jpg http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e368/bel001/roof4.jpg First of all I buzzed the tv intercom thingy on the rhs duplex that had 2 cars in the drive, with no answer. (I obviously now have a complex as they didn't want to even acknowledge me.....I'm telling myself it's because its a busy road ). So, go to the duplex on the lhs (get a few ** shots in) and buzz their tv intercom thingy, and get a bloke, so then proceed to try and explain that I need to know the type/color of your roof. He says he'll come to the gate, to then tell me he should know, but doesn't. He did say that he will dig the info out, and to call back next week if I really want the info. OK I say see you next week. I'm assuming he built them and has all the details! Looking at the roof again today, the tiles definitely have the ivory Joles, and also a plain tile interspersed. I am a nutter - it's not even my roof!!! (but glad to help!) Still not in. Don't ask!? Re: Terracotta roof tiles...perfect tile!!! 31Nov 14, 2008 4:35 pm Yeah I can see it clearly now. Looks like Natural Blend and Ivory together..
Thanks Bel, you're a legend!!! That's what I'll use if I don't use the super expensive tile I found today ... and desperately love. Thank you very much Bel, for the pics and the nuttiness! Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Terracotta roof tiles...perfect tile!!! 32Nov 15, 2008 8:08 am I have found the most beautiful roof tiles!!!
On the left is what we were going to use a mix of Natural Blend (plain one) and Ivory (multi one) with Swiss profile which I'm pretty sure is on the roof Bel stalked for me! BUT look at the one on the right!!!! It is Arezzo Blend in Roman profile. It goes beautifully with the Monument sample. But it is almost twice as expensive as the Swiss profile..... I'm not sure how far the budget can stretch. And we have decided to use Paperbark instead of Dune. The lighter colours in the roof tile really dictate Paperbark. So what do you think? Too much? Too expensive? It so goes with the Monument and all my grey and charcoal..... And both tiles are perfect with the brick! Terrence Malick Re: Terracotta roof tiles...perfect tile!!! 33Nov 15, 2008 8:27 am Hi Joles,
Ok my thoughts....I agree with you and think both roof colors work really well with your brick. I think sort out your $$$ and what you really want. If this new tile is a serious upgrade, can't that money go towards your bigger garage? Do you love the new tile sooo much that the bigger garage doesn't matter, and you can wait to see how much $ you get back from your previous builder? Will the new tile mean cutting out something you could have also wanted? (or do you have a unlimited budget?? ) Once you make a tile decision - stop looking! Still not in. Don't ask!? Re: Terracotta roof tiles...perfect tile!!! 34Nov 15, 2008 8:41 am Here's the thing, we're only having an orange/red roof because we have to.
This Roman tile (and a couple of other Romans profile colours) are the ONLY way around the red/orange roof issue. The estate guidelines are "Tuscan colours" so this gets through. I can live with and enjoy the other one.... but I love this one! I love it! And I think I'm willing to sacrifice other things! Yes including the triple garage! Not double glazing, that is definitely staying. Roofs are really important on our estate because it is soooo open..... and I plan on being there for forever. It's so hard.... Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Terracotta roof tiles...perfect tile!!! 35Nov 15, 2008 8:48 am WOW!! The one on the right is a SERIOUSLY lovely tile! How much exactly would you be talking about when you say twice the price??? And where exactly would the "Monument " be going?? Option 2 goes perfectly with your other choices, and as much as I don't like to encourage people to go over their budget.....the tile choice will totally alter the whole look of your house, and I would be inclined to go for Option 2. Imagine the wow factor...you'll soon have strangers knocking on YOUR door asking what tiles you chose! Re: Terracotta roof tiles...perfect tile!!! 36Nov 15, 2008 8:55 am Grace it is WOW isn't it?
We have been quoted 4.5k to upgrade to the Swiss, haven't got an exact price on the WOW tile but close to that again apparently. So that's about 8k - 9k for the roof tile. The Monument will be for the guttering and the windows. I only just talked the old woman into Terracotta..... this is going to be a hard sell. But I love it..... I love it! I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Terracotta roof tiles...perfect tile!!! 37Nov 15, 2008 9:04 am Most people upgrade SOMETHING...ceiling heights, bricks, roof tiles, interior tiles...I guess It depends on what you place value on. I just think that the wow factor tile looks like it was made for your other choices...and 4.5k divided by looking at it for the rest of your life is not too much to pay. Good luck with the hard sell ( on the other hand, she may love it too! ) Re: Terracotta roof tiles...perfect tile!!! 38Nov 15, 2008 9:07 am Joles, you have to ask yourself after its all said and done and you are living in your house will you drive up the street look up at your roof and say to yourself......." I wish I had of spent the extra and gotten the roof tile I love"
If this is a " YES" I would do it and work out the rest, budget wise after you have made your decision......Its a big investment but it is an investment. Personally, I think its beautiful and you can do so much with having that as your tile....charcoal driveway.....beige driveway.....brown driveway.... and then theres the added bonus of new render colours......... Go for it if you really love it..........Tell the old woman you only have 2 choices and the other one is discontinued..... Re: Terracotta roof tiles...perfect tile!!! 40Nov 15, 2008 9:18 am Grace she does love it... but she was happy with concrete because she said she'd be dead by the time it starts to fade!
PK.. I'm guessing there's a lot of that tile in Perth. Bristile actually only manufacture them in WA then ship them over here. It took ages for them to find my sample because they were up the back because no-one orders them. But I noticed a lot of Tuscan style villa homes around the Perth beachside suburbs. You have probably seen this tile on a roof. I'm hoping it is as wonderful in application as I think it will be. But you hit the nail right on the head. It does open up other avenues of colour for us. Every combo I have come up with throughout this whole process has been perfectly matched.... with a red/orange roof dumped on top. But this looks like it was a conscious choice.... like it's meant to go. Does that make sense? And anyone that knows my taste knows it's just more me! There is room for movement on some things budget wise.... there's things that can be done later I guess. Like electricity.... I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself.
