My wife and I are embarking on a new project - alterations/additions to an existing dwelling located within a heritage conservation area in inner west Sydney.
Here is the preliminary design concept. We are currently mulling over:
- changing B1 Ensuite to be a full bathroom accessible from the hallway; changing the adjoining Bathroom to be a full sized laundry; swapping the stairs to be located where the current laundry position is, to enable us to have a butlers pantry/slightly bigger kitchen with the unlocked space where the stairs & mini hallway are currently located
- whether to change the layout/orientation of the dining, living, kitchen & alfresco space. The site is North-East to the rear and sunlight is mostly dappled due to mature trees in our yard and adjoining yards. We had thought about including a small powder/WC in this space too but couldn't quite place it without it opening into a dining/living space. Current plan would require walking up ~5 steps to get back to the old part of the house to use a bathroom.
- upstairs comprises 2BR, 1 bathroom and 1 primary BR with ensuite - we're pretty settled with the upstairs layout, and a change in the stair location should hopefully not be a problem
Any feedback or advice is much appreciated!
