Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 09, 2008 7:31 pm Hi!
Does anyone happen to know of any places that can do 3D house renderings (computer generated models)? We have our final plans in .CAD format but would like to "see" what the house will look like - mainly to help think about colours etc. It'd be great to be able to see 3D images of the inside as well...but mainly interested in the exterior. I know there are programs like MVH etc, but to be honest, don't really have the time (or patience!) to learn how to use it! Anyway, if anyone has any suggestions or advice - that would be great! Thanks! Re: 3D House Rendering 2Nov 09, 2008 8:03 pm Are you asking about the same thing that d@n does for us all? Not the 3D bit, but d@n (and some other members of the forum who are good with paint/photoshop/MVH) does a pretty good mock-up of the exterior in a 2D image, if you give him a pic of your exterior and what colours you are using.
Hope you don't mind me offering your services d@n!! Re: 3D House Rendering 3Nov 09, 2008 8:09 pm donuts Hope you don't mind me offering your services d@n!! lol. pimping me now donuts. 3D is different to photoshop. You create a 3d model and render the scene. Some applications support animation...(think Toy Story as an example). The beauty of 3d is you can create scenes at any angle whereas photoshop is predominantly 2D. It's something I use to do but not anymore. Re: 3D House Rendering 5Nov 09, 2008 10:39 pm Hey guys!
Thanks for the responses! And yep, basically I'd like to try and see what the house my look like "in the flesh"...and thought looking into 3D models might be a worthwhile investment! Here's an attempt at 'photoshopping' the North elevation...any thoughts or suggestions would be great! Thanks again! This can be downloaded for free from Google, and is great for visualising your spaces in 3D.
It doesn't render as realistically as some of the high end software though, so when I'm creating rendered views I usually export 2D views into Photoshop and improve them from there. Here is a non-photoshopped sketchup model I'm working on so you can get an idea... Re: 3D House Rendering 9Nov 10, 2008 12:54 pm I've tried SketchUp and MVH, but my 3D skills suck too much to be useful. Is there a service one can send plans to, perhaps? I'd love to have a 3D model in MVH or SketchUp I can play with. Re: 3D House Rendering 10Nov 10, 2008 5:47 pm Djelibeybi I've tried SketchUp and MVH, but my 3D skills suck too much to be useful. Is there a service one can send plans to, perhaps? I'd love to have a 3D model in MVH or SketchUp I can play with. I'm with you!!! Not that I've tried SketchUp, but generally, I get frustrated really quickly and can never quite figure out how to use things like properly!! If anyone can help or point me in the right direction, let me know!! P.S: Donuts - thanks! Hopefully it'll actually get built one of these days and I can post some real pics!! Amilelka - thanks for the tip...that's a funky looking place ur designing!!! Re: 3D House Rendering 12Nov 14, 2008 6:52 am david s Revit is the 3D equivilent of Autocad. Both are now owned by Autodesk. It's complicated, but will slice your bread for you if you know how. That's kinda the problem i'm looking for a solution to! I was hoping someone might know of a company that I can give me CAD files to who can then produce some 3D models for me!!! Either that or a generous stranger with some free time Anyone?
