Hickimbotham and Statesman are quoting nearly $17000 for travel to Blyth. And approx $15000 for footings. Our block ir pretty flat so does that sound right? Waiting to get a propper quote drawn up now from hickinbotham for teh chelsea, im leaning towards this over the statesman plans atm. But its so hard to decide and trying to keep within our bidget and not get too carried away!!! Re: Building in SA! 322Mar 24, 2009 9:11 pm Hi Tamdaz Paul Bushell is the concreter that we used.If you want his number I can pm it to you It was $70 per sq mtr for the pattern pave (there were heaps of patterns to choose from) we had 200 sq mtrs done and we also needed some rubble and a bobcat to level off the drive a bit more (Paul arranged all of that) so it came to a grand total of $14,450 ...we were going to have coloured concrete but that was $55 per sq mtr so we decided to pay the extra for the pattern pave. I,ve tried to post some pics, but for some reason they won,t work.... I,ll try again.... Hi Tamsin Wow 4 weeks until handover...you must be soooooooooo excited and I bet the kids can,t wait! Have you sold your other house yet? I,ll have another go at posting these pics Cheers Mel Building on 9 acres Re: Building in SA! 323Mar 24, 2009 9:18 pm No luck.... it won,t let me preview the post at all.... it just says in red writing that photos might be 600 pixels or 800 pixels not sure what I,m doing wrong as I have posted heaps of pics on here before I,ll try again tomorrow.... Cheers Mel Building on 9 acres Re: Building in SA! 324Mar 26, 2009 11:13 am My wife and I have decided to build a house on a parcel of land we own in Tea Tree Gully. After looking at numerous display homes, prices etc., we have found two designs we really like with 2 different builders, Weeks and Macklin or Sterling. We really like the Weeks and Macklin home, but our brother in law is a site manager for Sterling and by coincidence, does it for the north eastern area of Adelaide. As anyone got any stories (good or bad) about either of these builders? Re: Building in SA! 325Mar 26, 2009 6:58 pm Any tradespeople you were very happy with and would recommend? Cheers Mel Building on 9 acres Re: Building in SA! 327Mar 26, 2009 9:34 pm Looks fantastic! you must be very proud The concrete looks awesome is it stamped? we really wanted that look but our council won't let us Re: Building in SA! 328Mar 26, 2009 9:44 pm Thanks Flissfloss Yes..I think it,s what you call stamped...it,s called pattern pave here. After the concrete is floated off they put a mould onto the concrete,so that it actually looks like real slate, cobblestones or whatever effect you choose. We love it. Why won,t your council allow it? Cheers Mel Building on 9 acres Re: Building in SA! 329Mar 26, 2009 9:47 pm oohh Very nice.... your driveway looks great melanie!! Chris Thanks Chris, I drove past your place on the way home today (we are only a few streets South) and it looks like you have some action! Good Luck, Vid Re: Building in SA! 334Mar 31, 2009 6:37 am My wife is busily doing selections at the moment (on her own, i'm overseas for work). I posted my elevation and plans. Yes. Very deep trenches and quite close together too. They dug up some old pipes, but only a few small tree roots (15-20mm). Slab next Monday!! Re: Building in SA! 336Apr 01, 2009 8:47 pm ChrisL Yes. Good luck Chris I was wondering if anyone has built a shed recently (since the building regulations changed) we want to put up a 6mtr x 4mtr, I'm not sure from what I've read if this needs approval now, I'll obviously talk to the council but was curious to know anyone else experience. Vid Re: Building in SA! 338Apr 01, 2009 10:51 pm ChrisL Vid, New rules only apply to small garden sheds. Can't remember the exact dimensions but way smaller than 6mx4m. Drove past your block last night. When do you expect some activity? Chris 3-5 weeks "apparently" / "hopefully"! Re: Building in SA! 339Apr 03, 2009 9:28 am Hi Ladies and Gents, It would seem i haven't posted for a while (been very busy). Well an update from me: Since my last post i said that i had, had someone ring me to say that the footings report had been done and gone to costing, we didnt end up getting the copy in the mail but got a letter saying why we hadnt booked in for selections - I agree that there admin seems to be very slow! We never did get a copy of the footings report until we asked them at selections and printed one off for us 24th March - Selections - was very happy only came $500 over budget and that included everything we wanted so not too shabby. Thanks for the tips about going to the selection centre beforehand but we had already been there plenty of times dont worry We had a little issue with our frameless shower doors which we sorted out and the silly person who did our footing costing didnt take into account the 3 phase power! Thats has since been sorted and we gave the final go ahead yesterday. Should get the final contract price next week. Skip to yesterday 2nd April and we have a letter from council saying that the first stage has been approved. Anyone know how long it takes for the 2nd and 3rd stages and once you have final approval from council how long till slab is poured? Im estimating maybe another 2 months for council approvals then another 4-6 weeks until slab poured, would this be a good guess? We also started to put up my big shed, got most of the frame up, needed to hire a jackhammer to get through the limestone for the massive holes we had to dig! All 14 of them! After easter we will do the concreting. Well thats all from my side. hopefully things are looking good for the rest of you.
