Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 14, 2024 6:15 pm Hi all, We’re doing a KDRB in Melbourne and our block is gently sloped to the back. The survey that’s been completed show there's approximately a 1m level difference from front to back over the length of 38m. Now the builder has informed us that an engineered pit & pump system is required to pump the stormwater into the legal point of discharge which is the kerb & channel just at the front of our house. They’re saying this will cost approx. $40k to install which will require ongoing maintenance and there’s no other alternatives. We understand this is a council requirement but can’t understand how can this be the only solution and surely not every house which slopes backwards will have a pump? Are there any other options we can propose or explore with the builder? Worth going to a drainage engineer to get an opinion? Really appreciate your input or if anyone had similar experience. 😃 will do an exclusive one for Simeon..
