Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 06, 2008 9:51 pm Hello, am building a new house and have colour panic (ha ha). We are having a lovely big kitchen with blackbutt timber flooring pretty much throughout the whole house except for bedrooms.
In our kitchen we are having stone tops (caesar or essa) and either laminex or 2pac and glass splash backs (will be having fully integrated rangehood. Can anybody help me with some nice fresh kitchen colours - thank you. Also does anybody have any ideas for laminex colours for laundry and bathroom cabinetry, tile colours etc. I do like warm colours such as beige, stone, sand, whites, caramels, chocolates etc. I have been sitting on the floor for the last hour and a half looking at laminex samples and am going nuts! Please help Michelle Re: Question No. 2 from Michelle 2Nov 06, 2008 10:32 pm We're finding Mushroom Linea quite popular at the moment! And, being a difficult person to please when it comes to Laminate, I actually like it too! I wouldnt mind it in my laundry and Im a good old Solid Timber or Vynil Wrap kind of girl
We dont recommend 2pac and usually advise customers against it so Im not help there, and I have no clue on tile colour so cant help there either! Re: Question No. 2 from Michelle 4Nov 06, 2008 10:46 pm Hmmm.... From memory, all 3 customers have used stone benchtops! Although one had ML as the bench in the laundry too... he wouldnt budge on our advice though
How quick are you needing to choose colours?? Im at the Warehouse on Mondays and Wednesdays and we have huge sample boards I can take a look at for you if you dont mind waiting til then? Re: Question No. 2 from Michelle 5Nov 06, 2008 10:51 pm Yes, either of those days would be great. I guess stone would look great with oyster - do you remember by chance what colour stone some of them may have chosen? I still have a few days to change product if needs be. We have been given good allowance for cabinetry so this could be a possible option to go for the stone as well. If you don't mind if I could get advice on stone colour as well as laminate colour depending on what the budget allows?
Thank you very much! Shel Re: Question No. 2 from Michelle 7Nov 06, 2008 11:27 pm We have Mushroom Linea in our Laundry. It's really nice. We opted to have the bench the same as cupboards. I have seen it in a display with Laminex Brook Pebble on the top. Depends what look you want, I didn't want anything that my Mum has. Donuts has it too in her thread.....I'm sure there is someone else too but I can't think at the moment
Happy at Home Re: Question No. 2 from Michelle 8Nov 07, 2008 5:35 am Hi Shel, as H2B has said I have mushroom linea in our ensuite, have a look at the last few pages of the house of donuts thread for photos. We used a Parbury colour for the benchtops called Pearl Mist, it's a kind of silvery grey colour, similar (I think!) to Laminex Pearl Grey only with a shimmery effect.
You could always just go with a neutral whitish colour on top like Alabaster, we have used that in the other bathroom with Oyster Linea cupboards. I found it helped to look at tiles at the same time, so you can tie it all in together. HTH! Re: Question No. 2 from Michelle 10Nov 07, 2008 6:36 am Gee donuts, you have been busy! ha ha. I went through every page and have written down some stuff - well alot! ha ha
PS Also your kitchen caesar top is very nice! Thanks again for the great ideas - it is good to know that your hard work is helping those of us who are struggling. We have just put our roof on our new house so we are a little way behind you. Thank you, Donuts. Shel Re: Question No. 2 from Michelle 11Nov 07, 2008 8:18 am Also look at Stipple Seal and Stipple Cocoa as Laminex benchtops, they look great together.
If you go stone, also look at Linen. I've decided to use Fudge Stream for cabinet and bechtop in my bathrooms, and a mixture of gloss white cabinetry with Burnished Wood features in the Kitchen, with Snow caesarstone. There have also been a new range of laminex colours released, and there are some amazing wood grains in there. I'm just trying to convince FH to let me use "Energy Stream" somwhere, it would look HOT! http://www.laminex.com.au/pdf/brochures ... %20WEB.pdf Built with Bentley homes in Doreen All moved in Dec 2009 Now for the garden! we used Ebony Macassar with ice QQ stone benchtop in Ensuite. I saw it in a display house and just loved it. This goes perfect with cream tiles and gives a warmth to the whole look. Happy selecting You can really use anything you want the main consideration would be how it looks once painted/finished - or the look you want. Cabinetmakers use MDF because its cheap… 2 9960 I would say both styles you have pictured are steel. The lower chord of the first pic would be a massive lump if made using timber considering the size of the rafters. If… 1 6151 1 13125 |
