i am planning to do tv unit as below.
openshelf - should it be adjustable or fixed.
adjustable means holes visible as i am not going with door.

I have no idea what you plan on putting in the spaces so can't tell you one way or the other. Obviously adjustable gives you flexibility. If you are worried about the holes looking ugly get the cabinet maker to install bushes in the holes. It tends to look neater.
