Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 30, 2024 10:12 am How is the edgebeam depth determined? As far as I know, edgebeam should reach founding soil with acceptable bearing capacity, according to soil report it's 200mm below ngl. Waffle slabs are used in this project and the slab depth is determined to be 385mm. As per the cut and fill, our cutting line is determined to be at FFL 100.5 and the level at the house adjacent to SW pipes are 100.7, so we cut existing fill there by around 200mm. So cutting 200mm will expose the 200mm deep founding soil. Since it's already on founding soil, how far down should the edgebeam go? I want to check for undermining that's why I want to know. VIC project, H2 site. Re: Edge Beam Depth 2Aug 30, 2024 12:16 pm You need to refer back to the structural engineering footings and slab design for edge beams depth. The depth on reactive clay doesn’t necessarily depend only on bearing capacity but also depends on the site reactively (the upward movement of clay soil). H2 means it’s highly reactive soil. You should also allow for a pad under the waffle slab as it may have been specified I guess in the engineering plans. Hi all. I have a drop edge beam down the left side of my house. Across the front the drop edge beam is approx 1m on the left and fade to normal ground level on the right… 0 7055 This should not happen, when the timber arrives on site, bent studs should be separated to be cut for noggings and blocks. The studs should never be bad enough to… 4 20456 Hi Courtney The mitred edges are glued up with epoxy so those little holes and gaps are areas that weren't filled correctly. Silicone is the wrong product to fill them… 2 21441 |
