Is the pergola actually supported in any way by the house (I can only see the 4 posts at the front)?

I always thought that Telstra (or its contractors) worried about all street digging. In my case the pit is only about 2 metres from the private pole, and it was never mentioned that I had to contact any contractors. This was when I was trying to get Telstra to do the installation - they couldn't guarantee a date that suited our moving in day, that's why we went with Optus. Re: Cambridge Chronicle - We Moved in a Year ago! 569Oct 25, 2011 3:23 pm Hi HellDad, Firstly, you've done a great job on your home, it looks fantastic. We too live in the shire and are seriously considering building with Clarendon (we've paid the deposit to get a tender done) and was just wondering, all in all were you happy in your choice to build with them, do you have any advice before we take the big step? Regards Bec Re: Cambridge Chronicle - We Moved in a Year ago! 570Oct 26, 2011 2:03 pm Hi Bec, All in all, we are happy with our new home. I don't have any advice that'll help you make (or not make) the decision to take the big step, other than to go in with eyes open - expect things to go wrong and you won't be too disappointed. Our DA process seemed to be less painful than most we've read about (Clarendon charge extra for dealing with Sutherland or Kuringai councils). When we rebuilt, Clarendon were advertising "talk to us about knock-down-rebuild" - they are absolutely not interested in knock-down, will have nothing to do with it. Our other gripe with them was that it's very difficult to deal with your customer liaison officer, they hardly ever answered or returned phone calls, although emails fared slightly better. The person who is absolutely key is your Site Supervisor (SS), and we were lucky enough to get a good one. He was efficient, flexible, easy to contact, reported regularly, and kept errant tradies in line, you can't ask more than that. At the end of the project there was only one lingering issue with the range hood, and that has proven to be workable. In 2.3 years we've had only two warranty repairs - aircon controller and rainwater pump controller. The latter was only recently, see this post. We wish you luck in your big adventure. Re: Cambridge Chronicle - We Moved in a Year ago! 571Oct 26, 2011 6:27 pm Thanks HellDad, After paying the $$ to get the tender done, I looked on Product Review, and freaked myself out! I knew I could only take it with a grain of salt, but decided I needed to find some of my own reviews before we go ahead. We also thought I silly they don't do the knockdown. We are actually in the process of getting quotes for that at the moment. Who did you use? Good to hear you've not had many unresolved issues worth mentioning, feeling more confident now. Thanks again. Bec Re: Cambridge Chronicle - We Moved in a Year ago! 572Oct 26, 2011 9:36 pm Hi Bec, I don't think you'll find any large builders that also do demolitions. We used a company called Gabrael - I wouldn't recommend them, look at the beginning of this thread to see why. Built the C£arend0n Cambridge: Moved in. Happy campers. Re: Cambridge Chronicle - We Moved in a Year ago! 574Oct 29, 2011 1:41 pm Hi Lex A few months ago Penrith Air replaced under warranty the internal aircon remote controller. They also installed a magnetic interference suppressor on its connecting cable, claiming success with that technique on other installations. It's been ok ever since.
