Don't know details.... but if you do a search of posts by Darbecca you'll find it as they have posted a few times. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. We have decided to get all 5 stages inspected as we had a lot of problems when we built our current house. His website is www.finalinspect.com.au if you want to have a look. Re: Building Inspections - some questions - please help me 4Nov 07, 2008 11:34 am Hi there! As my first post - I'd just like to say how much I enjoy the sense of community here at Homeone!
Now - as we have just finished our extension/renno with much drama we are also seeking a reputable inspection service. I have tried Big Kevin as he has had a good amount of press on Homeone & a good website- however he is not big on answering phone, email or land line messsages - so we must move on. (Bit of feedback for Kev - a 'can't get to you right now email' is what the people need...keep us in the loop! Otherwise we turn into stalkers....) Can't wait to explore & pass on pearls of post building wisdom! : I'm in the same boat. I tried contacting Kevin at least 4 months ago, left messages and send emails via his website with no response. I thought I’d give him another go last week, as we’re about to start building and it’s the same story, no response to both voice messages or emails. I suppose we’ll need to look elsewhere, so we might give Darbecca Pty Ltd a call. Re: Building Inspections - some questions - please help me 6Nov 24, 2008 7:27 am Hi there -
We have just used Finalinspect and found them to be diligent & quite detailed in their reports. Peter spent hours at hour house combing through the building /reno work. They are also non-biased & back up their comments/recommendations with code & regulation references - so it is quite black & white. Not much wiggle room for the builder in denial. They also found things that we had not picked up - so give em a call. Not cheap - but for the amount we have spent on this reno - well worth the price. Now its just a matter of getting the builder to face the music & get on with finishing the job. Re: Building Inspections - some questions - please help me 8Jun 05, 2009 8:02 am HI there, We are currently looking at getting an inspection done. Does anyone have any feedback on Darbecca, Final Inspect or Archicentre or any other inspection company? Any help would be much appreciated. [i]We built in Point Cook and are loving our new house. Re: Building Inspections - some questions - please help me 9Jun 05, 2009 9:10 am We had Darbecca come and do our frame / pre-plaster / final inspections and i cannot rate them highly enough. Even our SS commented on how thorough d was and i am certain that my house would not be the same high standard if it had not been for this. We got a brickie who new D and the job was 'perfect' in D words. well worth the extra moeny and the piece of mind. highly reccommend. Re: Building Inspections - some questions - please help me 11Jun 05, 2009 10:11 am we have just had our lockup stage inspections done couple of weeks ago , we had Alex from Urban property inspections do it, he did a great job, . would definitely recomend him. Re: Building Inspections - some questions - please help me 12Jun 05, 2009 10:25 am Thanks everyone. What are the stages that you would recommend doing an inspection at? We were thinking frame, preplaster and prehandover. I was able to speak to Robyn (Kevin's assistant) and she said that for a single storey house it is not necessary to do a frame inspection as the preplaster inspection includes the slab and frame inspections. Anyone has an opinion on this? Is this true? or do we need to get a frame inspection done? Thanks [i]We built in Point Cook and are loving our new house. Re: Building Inspections - some questions - please help me 14Jun 05, 2009 1:25 pm We did the frame inspection ad i think it was worth doing as there were many things that were picked up that would not have been seen after plaster was completed. If you email Darbecca they will send you a cost of the inspections, let him know you are a member of the forum. The total cost for all 3 inspections was less than 1K. A good investement on something you are spending hunderds of thousands building... Built Liberty 42 - Handover 26th Feb 2010 forum thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=17243 Re: Building Inspections - some questions - please help me 16Jun 05, 2009 2:16 pm We used Peter from Final Inspect. He recommended 2 inspections, one at frame stage and one pre handover. Our house is 29 squares and the cost for each inspection is $650. We had the frame stage inspection already. We booked him at relatively short notice, I met him on site and he explained everything in terms even I understood! The report was emailed the next day so the results were able to be forwarded straight to the builders for the points to be fixed. We can contact him at any point throughout the build if we are unsure of anything and while this hasn't been necessary yet it's reassuring to know we could. We were originally going to use Kev as recommended by many on here but I was concerned about the communication issues. You don't always have a lot of notice to get the inspection booked so you really need someone you can trust to get back to you and get the job done within reasonable timelines. Re: Building Inspections - some questions - please help me 17Jun 08, 2009 12:53 am I second Wanna. We used Peter from FinalInspect as well. He has been excellent and we have had no issues with the builder or SS from using him. He picked up an issue with our bricking that we did not see. It was pulled down and re bricked. We are not builders, we do not know what we are looking at, so we felt that it was well worth the cost. You have mandatory building inspections and privately engaged building inspections. The difference between the two comes down to inspecting the building so it's safe and… 3 18058 Hi VK, I am now retired however I have stood beside over 300 owner builders in the past 18 years that have successfully built their own homes.
