Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our Milan - update after handover 41Feb 06, 2009 1:23 pm Hi woodsey
the problem is the brickie start the bricking in Nov - the lower level, then they came back a month later to do the middle level.. and stop again Then someone did the rest (the upper level) the first week of Jan, but truely it is another brickie, the work is not as nice as the first one and so i guess he used the wrong morar color (because he already used the wrong brick in the front facade) SS said he does notice the color different, but will wait for another week and see what happen, and said it can be fixed, but not sure how.. so just want to gather some information here.. Except the mortar definitely looks ******* to me!
I hope they can fix it for you. Is it only on the side? (if that pic is the side?) Can you see it much from or on the front? Re: Our Milan - update after handover 43Feb 06, 2009 10:04 pm No, actually affect 3 sides of my houses
When they first start bricking, i was impressed of the work, but whoever picked this job up during the holiday period was just not good enough, i can clearly tell they are 2 different brickie since the works before and after are so different. The first brickie have done an exceptional job, but the 2nd one, gee, then i realise the the color doesn't match.. that's the worst I hope it can be fixed, finger cross Blog - http://clageonewhouse.blogspot.com/ Building Thread - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=10886&hilit=milan I am in, with my husband and my beautiful bunny Re: Our Milan - update after handover 44Feb 06, 2009 11:12 pm It looks like natural mortar on the bottom and off white on the top??

So my meeting with SS has been cancelled but instead will have one next week with the new one.. oh god, a lot of outstanding issues need to go through But other than that, things keep moving (security system installed, stone bench in, downlights..etc), they actually did some works on Saturday too i wonder how they did it since the weather was so hot... will post some pics tonight Blog - http://clageonewhouse.blogspot.com/ Building Thread - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=10886&hilit=milan I am in, with my husband and my beautiful bunny Re: Our Milan - update after handover 46Feb 10, 2009 6:55 pm CONGRATULATIONS!

Hi VJ, Carlisle and UrbanEdge have display house open in Alamanda too, you should visit them when you have time. Re: Our Milan - update after handover 53Feb 26, 2009 12:26 pm Just came back from the site meeting. Feel good, the new SS seems promising, i think i like him more than the previous one
He listened to all our concerns and wrote down everything, and promise to give us a call back regarding those issues Bad news is that the LINEN may not be fixed now, although it is on contract but if they cut the LINEN now not sure if the roof trusses will be affected or not, we don’t want any structural damage to the roof.. he will need to check in more details before he can promise me anything. I raised this at frame stage but they never get it fixed, oh god Also the mortar color, as per my previous post the color is not matching. We walked through the house again and look like they have tried to fix it, it is less obvious but still existed. SS offer to pull down and patch up again but this can take another 2 months, he will come back to me if there is other option.. We are not hurry to move in, but if possible we don’t want to wait another 2 months, especially when we know that we are expecting a handover in a couple of weeks Also the bath tube and the remaining bricks got stolen, so they have to order again.. So my house is still not fully brick even though the support bar is arrived.. SS also advised that my CSR is left (oh i only spoke to her 3 days ago and she didn’t mention anything ), he seems to know who pick up my file, but want me to confirm with the head office But the rest, things keep moving quite well, i have my glass splashback, shower screen, WIR/BIR fitting, lighting, and the new flooring all in – Oh just a note that i cannot have my Spotted Gum Floor anymore because out of stock, so i have chose TAS OAK instead.. My garage door properly in next week Oh dear, i really want to move in ASAP, hope no more bad news and the outstanding items can be fixed quickly Argh, i forgot to take photo too.. have to go back tomorrow and take some.. The photos look good. Its good to see you are almost there. Good luck with the corrections. Read your blog & building thread .. must say both exciting and scary. Building thread : viewtopic.php?f=31&t=15699 Re: Our Milan - update after handover 56Feb 26, 2009 1:19 pm Thanks Jessica, Woodsey
I think I am doing ok, just look at the bright side that i am not having too many issues.. my list only has 6 items, although i think 2 of them are major one I will give this SS a go, he sounds good, hopefully he can come back to me with some good news He told me that my first PCI book in on 10March, but now, need to see if all these issues can be fixed before that.. i am only worried about the mortar color. Do you think rendering the whole house is another solution? I try not to think about it since i don’t like fully render house, but may be better to wait for another 2 months.. also need to see what Sim@nds can offer first Blog - http://clageonewhouse.blogspot.com/ Building Thread - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=10886&hilit=milan I am in, with my husband and my beautiful bunny Re: Our Milan - update after handover 57Mar 06, 2009 10:33 am Just to update that i have the PCI reschedule to Friday 13 March.. Black Friday..
I am worried that Kevin will not be available.. He said that he is avilable on Tuesday (my original PCI date), so i just left him an voicemail and also sent him an email, hope he can make it SS said that he has found a company called Northcote?? (hope i get the name right) who can fix the mortar, i think they are trying to put another layer on top and the color should blend, the company provide 20 years guarantee for the fix.. Not sure if this is the best solution, but want them to try first.. I just hope that it will be fine.. otherwise i may need to accept a fully render house or wait another 2 months for them to pull down and re-patch the wall.. argh.. The LINEN hasn't been fixed yet but the rest of the issues have been fixed, the missing bathtube and external powerpoint are back, vanity unit, toilet, and even carpet are all installed.. and most importantly, they finally completed all the brick work Now just waiting for the installation of the garage door and flyscreen.. I can't wait to move into the new house.. Need to start thinking of packing, something that i try not to think about because it will definitely drive me mad... My inspection date has been push from the 10th to 13th, then 16th and now 19th… Simonds keep pushing it out because things not done (tradies not showing up as promised), I know i cannot blame too much as i can see that my SS has been trying, keep ringing.. but once a new date is firm, i have to contact Kevin and arrange again.. i feel so sorry to keep rescheduling.. Now just talked to Kevin again and ok for tomorrow but only 5pm, so left an voicemail to my SS and see if he is ok (hope he is, he told me that we can do it anytime that suit us and Kevin) Hope no more reschedule again. To be honest, i feel tired, and my excitement has long gone, now i just want to get it done, and i can move in and sell my current house, and have my life back again… Blog - http://clageonewhouse.blogspot.com/ Building Thread - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=10886&hilit=milan I am in, with my husband and my beautiful bunny Re: Our Milan - update after handover 60Mar 18, 2009 8:52 am Oh claego, I'm sure when you get those keys all the excitement will come flooding back!
