Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 27, 2024 11:38 am There has been some discussions on this topic here previously and we are looking to engage a Building Inspector independent of what is required by the builder, back or CC etc. The objective is to ensure the quality of the works performed by the builder at each stage or milestone are reviewed thoroughly covering all the major building stages. Don't know if there is any such body that governs these inspectors in each state (I am interested in NSW - Sydney). Any recommendations for such Sydney based inspectors and/or pointers to watch out in engaging such specialists? I have to say they are easy to deal with and quite thorough. I would give them a 7/10. My only issue is that some of the things in their reports have been wrong in my opinion but they err on the side of caution and do have the client's best interests at heart. Another client has just engaged Landmark, have not had the first inspection yet but they have been professional and pleasant to deal with so far. Re: Recommend an Private/Independent Building Inspector? 6Sep 06, 2024 6:10 am Hi Everyone, Just following up on the last post in this thread, I wanted to give an honest review on Landmark Inspections ( now that we have their second report) from a builder's perspective, whilst also considering if our client getting value for money and an honest independent report. I would definitely recommend Landmark Inspections. Both reports for the slab stage and the framing stage have been very thorough, professional and very fair, and from our perspective we can tell that they really know what they are talking about. As background, this second report was for the framing stage. We booked it a week ago ( they are happy to liaise directly with us), our frames were due to finish Tuesday so we booked for Thursday 8am. Unfortunately Tuesday and Wednesday half of our carpentry crew went down sick, rather than rebook the meeting the skeleton crew kept working and as 99.5% of the frames were completed we kept the booking. We do an internal QA on our frames which we believe is very thorough. This QA process picked up 5 minor items that needed attention and Landmark picked up the same items, plus one more ( something about a door frame that I don't understand so I need to ask them). So I think if I was the client and had Landmark looking out for my interests, based on what I have seen so far, I would be able to sleep well at night. They also understood some of our old school carpentry techniques which the other company didn't. Have a great weekend everyone Cheers Simeon Architectural Homes & Duplexes - specialising in custom designing homes to your budget Get a Free Onsite Consultation Today or send a PM for information, questions or advice.
