It seems the builder was stupid enough to let you but warned you about the insurance. So you cannot say you weren't told. Why didn't you insure? Why are you whingeing now? You are entitled to the copy of builders works insurance policy so you can check whether the exclusion is for real. Why have't you got a copy? A lesson to all others, think before you sign your building contract, then stick to it, variations can be costly in more than one way. What do you mean I had no right to supply my own appliance. These days all bulk builders have their own suppliers for home owners. But owners have rights to chose their own appliances and it was agreed with the builder. That’s why we got the credited amount even it’s just a little. And it’s written in the contract clearly we supply and they install. We paid the variation because we wanted to use the brand we like. I’m pretty sure all contracts have variations. Im not a building expert how could I know which items were insured which were not? The builder didn’t warn us until they were stolen and then they said their insurance didn’t cover. Just because they didn’t insured does it mean they were not liable? What do you mean I’m whinging here? I’m sharing my experience especially to those who’re building their first home, and wanting any experts’ opinions. Isn’t it this forum is for? I shouldn’t say that’s the variation. That’s the difference we paid as it was agreed before the contract signed. Re: Stolen Appliances 15Jun 25, 2024 4:41 am Max8888 I don't remember you saying where you are building. If you are in Sydney I would be happy to try and help by hooking you up with one of my suppliers for some wholesale pricing. If you would like help just PM me or send me your appliance details and I will get some pricing for you to see if that helps. My number is 0431 712 792. When you are a builder, there is a whole secret world of trade pricing that goes on behind the scenes. It's kind of crazy. Like we have our own dedicated Bunnings rep and technically I can call her when I am at bunnings and get big discounts of the prices civilians pay....haven't ever done that and probably wont ( I will either just use my powerpass or email her an order). But most suppliers have totally different trade pricing. I might elaborate more on this one day, especially as to how it relates to the project/volume build world. Anyway, if I can help I would be happy too Cheers Simeon Architectural Homes & Duplexes - specialising in custom designing homes to your budget Get a Free Onsite Consultation Today or send a PM for information, questions or advice. Out of curiosity, do you have record of the Serial numbers from before they were stole? Id be inclined to check if the reinstated appliance match. ie the builder or one of his trades stole the appliances hoping for a quick buck. Seems a pretty quick reversal of position I'm currently building a new house and have arranged with the builder to supply my own appliances. Do I need to take out insurance for the appliances or will they be… 0 11109 |
