Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 05, 2008 6:03 am Our local council has had our new house plans since 2 Sept.
I do realise that all councils are different, but is there roughly a standard time it should take? I contacted them around 3wks ago and they told me there wasnt a problem. Yet it is still sitting with them... decision... undeceided Re: House Plans - Council 2Nov 05, 2008 6:35 am My council is without fail at least 3 months. Totally over all the expected averages. It's notorious for being one of the slowest in Sydney.
I guess you could call them to check the status?? Re: House Plans - Council 3Nov 05, 2008 6:55 am Ours took 9 weeks. In the end, I was happy with that as I'd heard Sutherland Council is a shocker.
BTW, do you have DA tracking ? I found out our DA had been approved, when I discovered this facility on the council's website. Ours worked by punching in the DA number. Re: House Plans - Council 5Nov 05, 2008 8:15 am After dealing with plenty of councils all over Sydney the very best advice i can give is to find out the name and direct number of the town planner looking after it and ring them every morning and ask where is your approval. If you dont follow them up it will get left on a desk. If they have said there is no issue then there is no reason why it can't be out in a couple of weeks. Re: House Plans - Council 6Nov 05, 2008 8:43 am We're in the same boat. Our council have had our plans since 25 August. They also took 10 months to process the land. Very, very frustrating. Really not good enough - most of us would lose our jobs if it took us this long to finish routine tasks. Re: House Plans - Council 7Nov 05, 2008 12:04 pm Our first DA took 7 weeks, our new DA has been given a number today, so we are now waiting for the neighbour referral period to start and end. We now have a blog. http://allaboutthebuild.blogspot.com/ Re: House Plans - Council 8Nov 06, 2008 9:25 pm Our plans took nearly 8 months! We did try pushing the boundaries a little and had to ammend the plans a couple of times, meet with the councillors and liaise with neighbours, but it was a painful process.
Now we're waiting on a building licence ... I'm hoping it's only a week away. Re: House Plans - Council 9Nov 10, 2008 4:57 pm I was told Lake Macquarie Council took months to approve plans but mine were submitted on 16/10/08 and were approved today (yeah ) so I'm very impressed with them.
A lot of councils have DA tracking on the Internet and I have been watching how long they take and it has been getting quicker over the last 3 months. Re: House Plans - Council 11Nov 10, 2008 9:30 pm Hi TheGang
We had to deal with the council We applied for planning permit 26/09/2009 and got it last week (much to our surprise) What we did do was call up the town planner every few days That seemed to have pushed things along quicker than expected - The same council took over 4 months for another neighbor. Regards beegee Really tight at the top of the stairs- how to get furniture into those rooms? Study books - does anyone really use them these days? Large storage closet would be more functional. 2 6882 Even if it's not being sub-divided and you want to keep it as Torrens title, you will still need to talk to a town planner or Council themselves, to see if they will allow… 1 11014 We've had the offer of a short term tenant whilst waiting for CDC/DA home approval and demolition for our knock down rebuild. It would achieve a pretty low rent as it's… 0 13744 |
